Ortofon SPU £1000 plus shipping
Another very special cartridge. The legendary Ortofon SPU.
This has been totally re built. The original suspension wire and dampers remain to retain much of the original character. I have taken it completely apart re manufacturing the coil former/cantilever inteface. It features our DHC cantilever, FG11 tip, new coils in slightly wider coil wire specially for this cartridge. Internal impedance now measures 2 ohms.
Cartridge tracks at 3.2 grams as does the original. Output around 0.2mv.
Not included is the headshell and SPU spacer. If this cartridge is to be used in regular tonearms, the spacer needs to be obtained.
This is without doubt one of the finest SPU cartridges available. Sent me a cartridge that was junk. Defective stylus. Spent $500+ returning 2 times. Salesperson (Natalie) smooth operatore. Written warranty to provide another cartridge at my option if I had any issues. Will not honor. Company in UK, I am in the USA. Found out a small one person company, total cartridge sales (per Natalie) less than 10 pcs. Do not do business with this company.

I’ve NEVER damaged any stylus in 20+ years. This stylus in question was rebuilt by Dominic. First time I used the stylus came loose after 20 hours. Returned. Second time appears there was a bend. My local stereophile shop inspected. Could not determine fault.
Yes there are two sides to every story. Natalie (Dom's wife) is very smooth, sold me, then forgot me the next time I called. She just talks and talks and talks. Latest issue is she’s very/too busy…
We had a black-n-white understanding in writing to exchange as I put in the paypal transaction.
"if sound is not as good a my Arkiv cartridge or simply I do not like the sound, I (buyer) have the option to return the SPU custom cartridge to seller for 1040.00 credit towards purchase (1) rebuilt Troika with DHC cantilever with Fritz Gyger 2 tip at the same cost 1040.00, or (2) apply 1040.00 for another cartridge."
NW Analogue would NOT honor the agreement. Will NOT provide the option to apply to another cartridge. Push their line of custom made cartridges. Please note when I asked Natalie how many they have sold over the past many years she told me 7.
Life is short. Time to move on. Community is very small. I'm writing this complaint in the hope others may come forward. Natalie is a talker and will come back and talk and talk and talk...
