I signed up for a course on word processing. I admit that I did not notice in fine print that there would be a recurring charge for membership to a website that offers support and training. The first 30 days is free and after that the charge is $29.97 per month.

After being ill and noticing the time of month, I received an email that my credit card was charged "per my instructions" for $29.97 on April 9. I signed up for the course on March 10. I felt I was within my rights to cancel and request a refund. Boy, was I wrong!!

It is May 31 and I finally got a response after sending probably a dozen emails and filed 3 support tickets from their website.

I also called the phone # listed on their support page and either the phone rang with no answer, a busy signal, or a message that said the voicemail box was full.

I notified my bank and they are investigating.

In the meantime, the response email I received says sorry, it's been more than 30 days. I sent them a copy of all the emails and they say the 30 days from March 10 is April 8, but, they would credit me for the May charge.

I fired a letter back and said if you count 30 days from March 10, you arrive at April 9. Since I notified them on April 10 (which is what I would call 30 days), I think I am within my rights, but, now they have to prove if they are a scam or not by how they respond.

Let's wait and see!
