On Oct. 23, 2005, I purchased a rebuilt Dodge Intrepid engine from Mr. & Mrs. Marvin Ziegler, 110 Eunice St., Lafayette, LA (70508). Their phone is 337-234-3232. It was an ebay transaction and they offered a 12,000 mile/12 month warranty on this engine. (They use ebay seller names of "proautosolution" and now, due to their unattractive feedback, they've changed to "onsitefleets").

Upon completion of the auction, we were instructed by the Ziegler's to obtain a cashiers check in the amount of $1962.31 to include shipping. The check was bought and mailed the very next morning, Oct. 24, 2005. We didn't hear anything from them (and I can't give you a date), but I did email them and asked if they'd received the money. They replied yes they had the money but gave no other information. I repeatedly inquired via email about the ship date of our engine and was completely ignored by them. I tried to phone them and left numerous messages. None were ever returned.

On Nov. 23, 2005, the engine was delivered directly to our mechanic, Matt. He worked tirelessly for a solid month to get the engine going. This engine runs on 5 cylinders and Matt tried numerous times to get Marvin's help via phone or email. No response. Finally, on Dec. 23, 2005 Matt called us to come pick up our car to get it out of his garage. He said there was nothing he could do, the engine was simply no good. His original quote to do this job was $750 but due to the fact he spent so much time trying to get it to run, the final bill was increased to $1,273.72.

I spent a total of $3,236.03 between the engine and the mechanic fee and I have no car. I went and picked it up from Matt and BARELY got home. It sputtered and died ALL the way home. It's sitting parked beside our barn waiting to be parted out or junked, whatever the case may be. I don't know what to do at this point. I cannot get the Ziegler's to return my calls, much less honor their warranty. Ebay claims that due to the time frame, they cannot help me.

I've explained it took one month to get the engine and another month to install it making the time lapse NOT my fault but their automated system doesn't care. We are an older couple and haven't the money to buy another engine, pay more mechanic fees and we sure don't have the money to buy another car. I certainly want to do everything in my power to stop these people from financially disabling another innocent and honest buyer. Thank you very much for allowing me to use this site to perhaps save another.

We finally got Marvin to return one of our many phone calls. He suggested that we ship the car down to his location in Lafayette so that he could personally fix it. He even offered to pay the transportation fees! On 2/8/06, our car was picked up and taken to On Site Fleets for repair. I was beyond thrilled! In April, Marvin called to report that our car was finished and that it "ran perfect". He even claimed that he took it to a Dodge dealer to have them look at it altho I don't know why. He's allegedly so great at fixing these cars. This is when he told us that he would NOT pay for the car to be transported back to us after all like he origianlly promised. He maintained that the reason the engine failed to work was due to the fault of our original mechanic. We felt trapped and said ok, we'd pay for the trip home. That cost us $485. On 4/26/06, I drove the vehicle for the 1st time. I got EXACTLY 12 miles before it broke down. It still won't start as of this writing (4/30/06) and of course, Marvin and Tamara won't return calls or emails. I'm now up to almost $4,000 in this mess and STILL don't have a car! I'm doing my best to keep it going tho and do not intend to let them slide on it. I may not be successful but I'll be all over the Internet telling anyone who will listen about this company and the Zieglers. I don't want anyone else to be harmed in this way. Thank you again for this wonderful website.
