Moved here 7 months ago and was not told about a prorated water and sewer bill!. In addition to paying $1600 per mth for a 3 bedroom apartment, we are billed by a private company , hired by the landlord monthly for water and sewer (plus a service fee for this company is added to our bill)! Each building has 1 water meter, so there's no individual water bill per apartment unit. So, im guessing that we are also paying for the water that is used by the sprinkler system to water the landscaping on their property. Keep in mind that this is a huge property, maybe about 50 bldgs. We was told that the way it works is that if the individual building water bill is eg. $2,000.00 per month, it is then divided amongst the amount of occupied units in that bldg. I find this to be very unfair, especially when it's only 2 ppl in my household and we're billed $110.00 per mth and we're hardly home and never uses our dishwasher or washing machine! So we are being billed twice for trash as well . To sum it up, we are paying about $1,700 for rent! This is absurd! I don't believe it is legal because this is not a community /association. I will have my lawyer to look into this! If we are required to pay water and sewer, we should have individual meters and have the responsibility of. The amount of water we used! We will not be renewing our lease and may have to break our lease agreement because of this. This matter need to be investigated! Maybe, we will get the news station to investigate!
