Are Peoplefinders.com scammers, liars and cheats?  Read below and decide for yourself.

Over two years ago, I made a one time purchase for a report.  Like others, they demand a credit card and payment before they will issue the report.  No problem there.  Even though the report was of Marginal value there is no complaint rergarding that transaction.  They did furnish SOME information.

The problem is that they then continued to charge $48.00 every three months for, I guess, some sort of subscription service.  I didn't authorize it, know about it or consequently use it.  Because my wife pays rwviews and pays for this card she checked with me the first time the charge showed up (for the legit transaction) and I said it was an OK charge.  However, not knowing it was to be a one time charge, she continued to allow any further (unauthorized) charges, thinking I had made them.  Necause they were every three months, she never made the connection that it was a serial billing.

Last week, well over over two years later, I reviewed the old CC statements while reviewing another seperate matter and noted these bogus charges by peoplefinders.com.  And they had just taken another $48.00 3-month fee from my credit card.  Here is where the "fun" starts.

I had resolved myself that I had gotten ripped off and just wanted to make sure no future charges occurred so I looked up thier phone number and called them.  On their Auto system, I pressed "2" to access the category described as stopping my subscription.  What I got was a recording saying that they way to cancel was to log-on online, access the Account info and press the tab to "close the account".  I tried that and found that I had no idea to how log on so I used my email address on the Recover login link.  Once I was able to log-on, I was greeted by name and informed I had no accounts with them.  To confirm, I tried to do a search, and was told I could complete it for a one time fee because I have no account.  Remember, they had just taken a $48.00 three month subscription fee.

So I called back and talked to a real person who said I didn't have an account.  I asked why they were taking money from me then and recited the time and date of their last charge/payment for three months.  She (don't remember her name) put me on hold for a minute and came back to inform me I had an account and they recently unilaterally canceled it.  I asked when they canceled it and she said "right after the last payment".  I informed her that it was a three month payment, only a few weeks had gone by and i should have over two months left if that was true but I had no such account.  She then informed me that the payments were at the END of the three month payment period and that is a LIE, confirmed on their website "terms and conditions" page.

These people take your money and keep taking it until you catch them and then, and onlt then, telling you they canceled the account upon the last payment.

Waht do you thinke?  (BTW - no spell checker here)
