I received a flyer from Peoples Trust in the mail today and was interested in getting a quote on my homeowners policy in order to compare rates with my current insurance company. The agent (Jason) was very rude, arrogant, and very condescending throughout the entire call. He advised that Peoples Trust does not offer any Animal Liability coverage, no water backup/sump pump liability coverage protection, and no additional coverage to cover any extra building material costs to rebuild/replace my home since they have their own warehouses for supplies (part of the Rapid Response system) to keep from having to worry about inflated building costs due to material shortages, etc. Several times he laughed out loud or acted indignant whenever I pointed out areas of coverage my policy endorsed for that his company did not. When confronted about this he tried to act apologetic and stated that he felt that I would have a hard time getting my current company to pay on these areas if the need ever arose. Although I'd already made up my mind that I'd never do business with a company that allows for such unprofessional behavior from one of their front line employees (agents), I pressed on with the call in order to obtain a quote from them to compare with my current premium. Overall. I wasted 15-20 minutes of my life with this company. Their max allowed dwelling coverage quote offered was $46K less than what I was already covered for by my current company. Their quote system calculates what they feel is the amount needed to rebuild your home and then they go up from there. Even though I can't get an apple to apple dwelling rate comparison, etc. whenever I do the math, I'd pay more per thousand dollars of dwelling coverage with Peoples Trust than I do now. Because they have no known AM Best rating and due to the poor customer service I received while getting just a quote much less filing a claim, my opinion is to stay away from this company! Buyers Beware!

Nov. 13, 2013, I received a flyer from People's Trust and looked them up on the internet. They are NOT rated by the BBB and show 22 problems with products and services within the last 12months. Then I read this review, so I called them to tell them that they had terrible reviews and to ask them to remove me from their mailing list. I was asked for my address and I think that the girl said something like OK, the line transfered for a moment and hung up. I would have expecteda good bye or have a nice day to close the phone call. That was certainy NOT acceptable to me let alone professional. I would like to thank the originator of this complaint for saving me from the possibility of such stress of doing business with these people.

Best - the premier insurance company rating service, has an NR rating for this company. People's Trust would not provide financial information to Best. Never a good sign.

Today I recieved mail from Peoples Trust Insurance Company. In their advertisment its expressed * Great Affordable Rates *Friendly Customer Service * No-Hassle Claims Service * Rapid Response Team. But what caught my eye was the copyright emblem on the brochure stating "A Exceptional Financial Stability Rating. I am a member that views the financial credit rated company for many insurance companies. I have looked up People Trust Insurance Company and found out in 2009 they owed $100,000 before they could be rated. I could not find any information of this being resolved. Currently to this date their is no rating for this company according to the financial credit rating company I use. However i will send a copy of this advertisement to the institue to verify if this is ok or not to print on their brochure.

While I have not yet had a claim with Peoples Trust (and hope not to), they have been very open with their policy requirements & publish a clear declarations page. I'm sure there are two side to this story; I find the writer's account of his claim experience more of a prejudiced rant than a useful criticism. Especially since as a custom built house an electrical fire would typically be a result of negligence on the part of the builder or the owner. I sure would like to know the rest of the story.
