My complaint is against Phoenix Transportation Services, Inc.  Their address is 3160 S. Valley View Blvd #205, in Las Vegas Nevada.  US DOT: 1770206, MC: 646315.

On November 26, 2016 I contacted this company about moving a complete bedroom suite (head and foot boards, dresser, chest of drawers, nightstands, and a dental cabinet) that I had bought the day before in Temecula, California.  This furniture was to be shipped to Northeast Wyoming.

The bid I received from Phoenix Transportation Services was significantly lower than others.  That should have been my first clue.  The pickup date was to be December 11 or 12 with a 7 to 14 day delivery period.  When I asked the person taking the order why it was so much cheaper than others I was told that my load was going to be included with a another delivery in the area and thus a discount.  This sounded reasonable and gave me the impression that the delivery would be within a matter of days, not weeks.

Stupidly I agreed and sent in the deposit.  Upon the day of the pickup in Temecula (about two weeks later), I was called and told that it was going to cost an additional $1,000 or so because there was much more being picked up than what was expected.

When I initially spoke with the Phoenix Transportation Services representative upon placing the order I was CLEAR with what was going to be picked up.  I had told all of the competitors the same thing.  For whatever reason, the representative from Phoenix Transportation Services who had verbally acknowledged over the phone (as overheard by my sister) what was to be picked up and delivered - on the order form changed it to a much reduced load size and somewhat different in content.  A few days prior to the order being picked up in Temecula, my sister called Phoenix Transportation Services to inquire if there would be an increase in charge if a couple of additional small items were included with the shipment. My sister was told NO as long as it was within a 450 cubic foot space in the truck.

Two weeks after contracting Phoenix Transportation Services, I received the call concerning a significant increase in charges.  Because of my timing circumstances (I needed a delivery before December 24, 2016) I had little choice other than agreeing to the increase – a hint of extortion.  What alternative options did I have?  So consequently I reluctantly agreed to the extra charge expecting a delivery before December 24 which was within the 7 – 14 day delivery window.

Yesterday, January 9, 2017 the load finally showed up and the delivery was made.  When it was obvious that the delivery was not going to be made by December 24, 2016, Phoenix Transportation Services told me that by DOT rules, they had up to 30 days to make a delivery from the date of pickup.  Seriously?????  Then why promise a customer 7 to 14 days if in fact there is such a rule?

I have an email dated December 13, 2016 outlining the new increased cost (it had been slightly discounted) with the final cost.  This total was what I expected to pay but a handful of days before delivery that cost was increased by another $100 for a so-called administration fee.  Seriously!!!  Another $100 added to a final total that was quoted on December 13, 2016.

Based on my personal experience - for anyone considering using Phoenix Transportation Services for any transportation of goods I caution you to be very wary of them.  I did not find them to be transparent.   They made a mistake with how they took the order and I was the one who had to pay the price.  Either they have a procedure problem when taking orders which allows for mixing one order with another, or they intentionally misquote and hit you with higher charges later.

From my experience their way of doing business borders on bait and switch practices.  I was forewarned about Phoenix Transportation Services but I chose to ignore the warnings.  After the fact I have found other complaints against this company.  In my case they misrepresented my order, they jacked around on the price on more than one occasion, and they did not come close to meeting a delivery date.  (By the way – I had two other deliveries made between December 8 – December 21 from two other reputable hauling companies, no problems and without on-going delays and increases in price.)

As per my experience, Phoenix Transportation Services is unreliable and appear to be deceitful.  When I quizzed the driver upon delivery, he had had a full 53 foot truck loaded for deliveries.  The statement concerning the discount I was given initially that I was sharing a truck with just another load was not quite truthful.  The fact is my goods were taken to a warehouse until a full load could be assembled, thus the delay in delivery.

In the end Phoenix Transportation Services had no interest in satisfying me their customer – they are only interested in themselves, customers be damned.  As a private consumer they recognize that the likelihood of requiring such services in the future will be low.  Thusly other than lip service, there was no real intent in meeting my needs.

I feel I have been cheated, taken advantage of – ripped off by a company that initially talks a good game but in the end does not deliver.  What consequences does Phoenix Transportation Services pay for repeatedly changing and increasing the price and a very late delivery?

Rebuttal to Wyoming

In regards to the complaint for the customer that was going to Wyoming. When the sales person sent the estimate it does include the inventory that was discussed. Unfortunately the customer did not look at the inventory for they would of noticed if there were any items missing from what they wanted to have moved and realized that we did not have all the proper invenotry to give them an  accurate estimate. We do tell the Customers to check inventory so they can make sure we didn't miss anything or they didn't forget to tell us everything. It was quite obvious that we did not have everything that they mentioned in the complaint. The Customer has to do their do diligents as well as the moving company so that we can all be on the same page.

In regards to the delivery of her household.  We strive to deliver within the time frame of 7-14 days. Unfortunately cercumstances may arise that are out of our control. If the customer had read the Estimate It does mention that we have 30 days to do their delivery. During the winter the weather does play a big factor in delays as well.

All Estimates are charged a $100.00 Administration Fee and If they would of noticed it was on the Estimate they received it was not an additional charge after the fact.
