I have received an e-mail seemingly from pay-pay stating that I had authorized a payment of $199.79 to PinZoo Instant Pin (1-888-697-9833).  Description Invoice 198332.

I have not authorized any payment through pay-pal, and have not ordered any services from PinZoo.  I already have cell phone service and have no reason to change.

I got the same email about my paypal account being compromised.  I tried to report it immediately to paypal but their website does not have an effective way to dispute transactions of this sort.  This was very frustrating to try to navigate thru paypal when their website is clearly set up to direct you to self help information so that they do not have to respond.  I have a suspicion all of this started with an order I placed with focalprice.com.  I have been getting many more spam emails since the order was placed.  I have also not received the item I ordered after waiting more than a month for it.

Dear readers,

In the past few days, some of you may have received fake PayPal emails, stating that there is a charge for $199.79 authorized to PINZOO Instant PIN.

YOU WERE NOT CHARGED BY PINZOO OR PAYPAL. There was no actual transaction - it's spam.

Neither us or PayPal sent you this email. This is a "phishing" email sent by spammers. Numerous successful PayPal stores have been the target of these recent spoof emails attempting to gather information from PayPal customers. The phone number on the emails are invalid and the links will lead you to bogus websites, mostly overseas.

Please forward that email to [email protected], then delete it. Pay-Pal's fraud prevention department is aware of these recent spam emails and is working diligently to stop them. Also visit Pay-Pal's Suspicious Activity Page for more information and how you are protected against potential unauthorized activity.

This has been a nightmare for many recipients of these emails and for us as a small company. We have spent the last few days responding to every email and phone call we have received by irate and upset people. We have posted numerous explanations on many of our web pages. Numerous negative feedbacks have been left for PINZOO that have ruined our online reputation in a matter of days. You could say that on some level, the perpetrators have succeeded in falsely tarnishing our good standing with the online community.

We share in everyone's frustration. We apologize for this inconvenience but we are victims of these spammers as well.

Our toll-free number is 1-888-697-4696
You can reach a live representative from 9am to 6pm PST, 7 days a week

P.S. We ask kindly to refrain from leaving us additional negative reports because once posted, they will permanently remain on the internet. If you find out explanation to your satisfaction, please update your original posting as we could really use some kind words :)
