PODS - PORTABLE ON DEMAND STORAGE SCAM.

I recently hired PODS to store and move my storage. The only reason i chose pods was because they advertise the following. "We will deliver the pod to you where ever you are" - so far true.

"We will it store for as long as you want" - so far true

"Then we will deliver where you want when you want" -SCAM - This, in my eyes, is the most important part. The do not deliver to anywhere you want across the U.S like they advertise, rather only to select cities. Thanks for telling me after i hire you.

They also advertise you can access your POD whenever you want - Also a scam. You must contact them at least 24 hours in advance to access the pod and if thats not enough they close on Wednesday which is the only day i can come pick it up. and they only open till 4pm every other day of the week.

So here is my story.

I hired pods and specifclly told them i will store the pod for 1 month then have you send it to brooklyn. They ofcourse said no problem we can handle that.

So 1 month passes by and i call them to deliver the pod to brooklyn. The rep then preceeds to tell me they dont deliver to brooklyn. At this point i am extremly frustrated so explain to the rep that i was told you will deliver the pod anywhere across america whenever i want. She tell me that she would have to contact "Platinum Services" And see what they can do and then get back to me.

Please bear in mind my billing cycle start on the tenth of the month and at this point it is about 5 days before that. So i tell the rep that they must contact me before the tenth because i want to move my pod and it isnt fair to charge me for another month when you refuse to let me move it.

She tell me no problem they will contact me within 24 hours. 8 days go by and it is now the 13th of the month which means i was charged $500 for the upcoming months storage. I get a phone telling me they will not move the pod to brooklyn NY. So i said ok will come pick it up myself. I go down to the facility on the 8th of the next month it is a 2 hour drive each way only to hear for no apparent reason they sent my 2 pods to 2 different places and i have to wait for the to bring them to 1 place.

And so 1 hour goes by and they finally deliver the pod. I try to access the pod and the man tell me i owe them $500 and i will not be able to access the pod until it is paid in full. I told the man the only reason the pod is still here is because you guys did not contact me for the shipping inquiry in time so i can make arrangements to come before the 10th of last month. he precedes to tell me i must call the honorable "Platinum Services" I spent 1 hour on the phone with them and then waited a half hour later so they can call me and give me there answer. They called me back and told me I need to empty out the containers and they will waive the months charge.

At this point the time is now 3:45 pm and remember they close at 4 pm. The guys drops the to Pod containers and tells me i have 15 minutes to empty out the 2 16 foot containers. obviously it is not possible and i tried my best but i could not do it. Now remember it is a friday and the 8th of the month. They are open saturdays and closed sundays. Being that i am jewish i cannot arrive on saturday. So i tell them to put it back and ill come back and empty it out.

They said no problem and i go on my way i come back on monday, try to access my pod only to find out i owe $1,000 and i cannot access the pod. Apparently because i didn't empty the pod completely in the 15 minutes they gave me on friday they do not have to commit to their deal and since it passed the 10th of the next month i owe them another $500.

I spent 2 hours and was transfered 7 times to different people only to be hung up on.

I then call back fuming mad because i know have to work my way up to reach platinum services because apparently from the words of the royal employee of platinum services "You cant just call Platinum Services" I then asked 1 simple question that left her dumbfounded. "But i just called here and spoke with Kathy for 20 minutes, She never mentioned that I wasn't allowed to call here she actually helped me. If people arent allowed to call here then why did you pick up the phone?".

She then told me Kathy was busy and she would be able to help me. I spent another 20 minutes explaining to her the situation which they refuse to put into notes on the account. She then tells me no such deal was made - referring to the friday 15 minute clean out and we will waive the fee.

I was forces to pay the $1,000 and then rent a huge truck again and pick up the stuff another time and again wait for them to send it back from the 2 different facilities. So the reason i hate pods and i hope they go out of business is because they are liars , false advertisers, and nobody noes what on earth is going on even in the sacred " Platinum services".

She had to send a form to the facility i was in by fax and she asked me if i knew there fax number, I then asked the guy there for the fax and he started laughing how "Platinum services" doesn't know there own fax line.

That hole company is a scam and they costed me $4,000 in fees and other bogus charges.

My maine complaint is that i wanted to come take the pod but they wouldn't let me. Apparently that wasn't good enough for them.
