You must be one of those people who does not read contracts and gets mad when you sign something you AGREED to. It's in the contract with legal shield that it's at the attorneys discretion what they feel has legal merit. Fight legal shield all you want, it's in their contract about this. Afterall if u were an attorney, would u want to go to court on something you know is a losing case? Would you want to go to court for cases where someone is trying to recover 10 dollars?
There has to be some protection for the attorneys. Besides-the attorneys are seperate from legal shield-they are normal attorneys that u see everywhere and are just under a contract with legal shield to help out it's members. You sound like a person who is mad because you had no case, did you get results elsewhere with a different attorney? I'm guessing not and that's why you are using all your time on this losing battle.

Obviously, you have been paid cash, or something equivalent to cash to harass this victim. I am a victim of these LIARS, CHEATS and THEIVES.
I w as sols a membership, if that is what you dare to call it, by a punk-a** used car salesmen in Michigan, or Minnesota, a zillion miles away from me, Oklahoma, PPL, and any sense of moral, or public resposibility for his actions.
I was MADE TO BELIEVE the PPL was going to just d**n near work MIRACLES for me. They referred me out to bar members who didn't know a d**n thing about me, my case, anything. 90 per/cent of the time, the lawyers they "referred" me out to, did not even practice in the area of law I needed.
PPL is a damned lie, and worse. I am not going to ALLOW a punk like you to rebut a claim by this woman. Try it again, and I'll turn in to BATMAN on this RIPOFF REPORT SITE, and I WON'T LET GO.
TRY ME OUT AND SEE.
HARLAND STONECIPHER AND CREW ARE LIARS, CHEATS AND THIEVES, and I do not CARE how rich or "successful" he is. Alphonse Capone and Carlo Gambino were successful and wealthy. So was Lucky Luciano. So was Bugsy Seigel.
You are cruising in the wrong sailboat, buddy. I suggest you take a new heading. Take the money you have been paid, or the political favors you have been promised, and butt out. NOW.
The Doc.

I agree with you 110%. I too was duped.
I am an abused, disabled, single woman living alone in a motel room having been unlawfully discharged from a nursing home in Oregon. I receive disability as my source of income. I first contacted PrePaid Legal on/about October 2, 2010 regarding two specific very serious legal matters I needed legal representation on. I had completed an online form for what I thought was to contact a viable attorney but later learned after a man named John Daniels contacted me, that it was PrePaid legal instead. Mr. Daniels contacted me via email stating "Kim, I was unable to reach you by phone. You have a very strong case against both Pinnacle and the hotel. Please contact me at 505-610-1856. Any time, John Daniels PPL".
I phoned Mr. Daniels back this same day and we spoke. I relayed to him in detail two legal matters that I needed representation on, advised him of my disability, and among other things, informed him about my source of income. He told me that a very large, reputable law firm would be contacting me soon, and not to worry that the firm would take my cases pro-bono or on a contingency basis. He went into with me how his family member was abused and damaged by a nursing home as I was and that I would get immediate legal representation. He later stated that I would only have to pay 25% of the whole of legal fees if I had to pay anything at all. When I questioned what he had stated earlier about his statement that would not have to pay anything at all, he stated well if I had to pay anything at all that it would only be 25% of the whole of the legal costs. He again stated to me that my cases were very good, very strong there would be no problem with representation pro-bono or contingency.
I later learned after no law firm contacted me, that I had to contact the law firm myself and I did. I also learned that everything, including emails sent to me by Mr. Daniels, was a lie. He only told me and emailed me what he thought I needed to hear and read in order to get me to sign up for the services. Now I sit here in a non-accommodating-for-the-disabled and no attorney has been appointed to my cases, and no lawsuits filed on my behalf. Only one attorney from the firm has contacted me but none of the promises made to me by John Daniels has ever come to pass. It has been now nearly a month and still no attorney has contacted me to proceed with any lawsuits against the two companies on my behalf.
This has forced me to question the law firm in Oregon who was to be handling and/or appointing counsel for me. I have relayed the promises and conversations/correspondence between Mr. Daniels and me, but the law firm will not honor it. I have several emails from Mr. Daniels, that I contacted and read to the corporate office in Ada, Oklahoma and the complaint division seemed interested in what I had to say, even a gast at certain times to learn of Mr. Daniels' deceit, but I was not ever compensated for the lies and misleading business practices of their agent, Mr. Daniels.
I was told last Wednesday (Oct. 20) by a woman at the law firm during a phone conversation, that I had one more day before I would be contacted by an attorney to take both cases and file suit. She said an attorney would be contacting me the next day, Oct. 21., but no call came; no call came the next day either. Today is Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2010 and still no call; no representing attorney. I have administrative hearings upcoming that I have had to seek re-scheduling on now awaiting an attorney to appear for me as I am tired of getting the railroad and do not know law as an attorney would, but still no attorney for representation.
I have contacted a law firm in Oklahoma that sued PrePaid Legal in 2003 I believe, and I have remitted to that law firm the emails I received from Mr. Daniels, and the issues I face with PrePaid Legal, but I have yet for that law firm to contact me back. If anyone knows of an attorney firm who will go after PrePaid Legal, please do not hesitate to contact me at your earliest convenience.
Like others in America and also on this forum (Janet of Johnson City, Tennessee), I feel that I was taken advantage of by PrePaid Legal and their agent, given information that has proven to false in nature and though I paid my membership up front fee, I have received nothing for my buck. It's not just about paying for the services, but what was misrepresented to me that I found not to be true at all. I am very humiliated and am suffering greatly from anxiety, extreme emotional distress, sleep deprivation, anger and anguish, and I just feel that the agent played on my grief and state of necessity promising me services that he knew were not true. This much is shown in other emails he sent to me advising me to deceive the law firm that I spoke to if they asked certain questions. I am very humiliated and feel victimized, violated now three times.
I truly am in need of an attorney to go after PrePaid Legal Services, Inc. to bring justice to me for their fraud, and deceptive business practices, but to also be compensated for punitive and other related damages I have suffered.
Beware of PrePaid Legal. I now believe that it is a huge hoax, a huge fraud that plays on the depressed and hardshipped emotions of those truly suffering as myself, telling and writing to you what they think you need to hear, i.e., to get you to sign up and pay a fee for services that you [or me] will never receive.

Within the contract if you read it correctly-you'll see a segment that talks of how attorneys have the right to refuse anything that is unmeritious. If you have a problem with the attorneys take that up against the attorneys not a company that contracts them. Do you attact your medical insurance if a doctor through that insurance does you wrong? How on earth do you even know what pre-paid legal has paid in taxes by the way? Do you have esp or know more than the IRS? You sound like a babbling baffoon

If you are guilty of anything, it is certainly the over-use of exclamation points. Here's the rub. If you had a contract with PPL to provide you with legal defense services, and they failed to do so, then you have a breach of contract issue that you need to take to an outside attorney. Unfortunately, this is pobably your only recourse. If you choose to take advatage of it, then you will not only help yourself, but you will help every other current and potential victim of PPL. IF you choose not to pursue such an action, then you are a coward, and nobody will be helped by your complaint. I hate to be so blunt, but, I am tired of seeing people post complaints against unremorseful attorneys and then not do a d**n thing aout it. I am an attorney myself. I screw up every and then. When I do, I man up and let everyone involved know that I f*cked up. Being a man about things works wonders. Being a coward will get you nowhere. I hope this made sense. I may have had a little too much to drink tonight. Best regards!

ok, i am sure that you think you have some great and noble cause, but really now, why would pre paid legal bother making victims when that is exactly who they are trying to protect? another thing i have to inquire, forgive my blatancy, but did you ever think maybe that you are just dooing this for attention? beleive me i can undersand that though, i have been desperate for attention too, but really now. that is stupid to say "they are a mockery to the judicial system". i see them as a gift, and a becon of good old american freedom, thats right folks, freedom, more american than apple pie (which originated in england anyway).
