I booked Premier Event Services 5 months in advance of my daughter's Sweet 16. After numerous e-mails and checking for references, I booked a DJ/Photo Booth package. They advertise themselves as the 'nation's largest' resource and offer only professional/ dependable DJs, photo booths, etc. During the planning process, Steve was attentive and responsive. I asked many questions and I have kept all the email responces I got from Premier. I paid my deposits and balance on time and I signed the contract promptly.
One month prior to my event, I sent an e-mail to Steve and all of my vendors to reconfirm and start tying up loose ends. Steve was the only one that did not respond. After another e-mail and phone calls, I finally spoke to Steve. He apologized and said they were busy with graduations, etc. He assured me that everything was on track.
I contacted Premier again the week of my daughter's party. I was locked out of the online system and I hadn't heard from the DJ yet. I finally heard from the DJ, Christian, 2 days before my party. When we were talking, I asked about the lighting package. He didn't know about any lighting. My package, accoring to Steve's e-mail, included a basic lighting package. We discussed my expectations i.e. serving as the MC of the evening, keeping the energy up, playing only clean song lyrics, etc. I even gave him the number of my contact at the venue for questions.
My photo booth was to be provided by Photo Magic, but was booked through Premier Events. Dane from Photo Magic called me early in the week prior to go over the details. I reminded him about bringing props and he told me he wasn't told to bring props. He normally charges extra for that. Dane agreed to provide the props and again, I thought we were OK.
Every vendor, balloons, caterer, floral, etc. showed up on time and were professional. Everyone, that is besides the services provided by Steve and Event Services. The DJ forgot to bring the cord for his microphone. How does a DJ do his job without a mic? And there was no lighting package at all. The most important part of this party was the least prepared. I was promised a professional and I got a rookie. We actually had to borrow a mic cord from a wedding happening in the same place for about 45 minutes and when it came time to do the cake, the DJ handed me the mic!! Seriously??? My daughter was supposed to be the star of the evening and I didn't even hear her name once from the DJ.
As for the photo booth, it was delivered on time. But, Steve promised me in writing that I would have an attendant on site for 4 hours to assist with the booth. I would also have various backgrounds for photos, the photos would be personalized and I would receive a DVD of all the photos taken. None of this happened.
I sent several e-mails to Premier and phone calls before I finally heard from Steve. He seemed surprised to hear about the problems. He hadn't read or seen my e-mail. I got a "well, I'm sorry about that...what would you like me to do?" I should'nt have to tell you what to do, but I did say I was owed a minimum of half my DJ fee but that didn't cover all the problems. He said he would get back to me by week's end. Then Shannon called. She hadn't spoken to Steve so I reviewed all of the problems and expressed my disappointment. Shannon seemed empathetic and genuinely sorry for the whole mess.
I got a refund of $175, half my DJ fee the next day. I asked him about what he was going to do about the photo booth problems and money I am owed for services not provided. I sent him a copy of his e-mails promising all these things. Steve said he is done and will not be refunding anything else.
I spoke to the photo booth vendor directly this morning and it turns out that Steve didn't even book him unitl less than a week before my event. He assumed there would be props but didn't confirm and he never mentioned about personalizing the photos. And he never even discussed having the attendant on site as I was promised.
And expensive and sad lesson learned. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH PREMIER EVENTS. Steve's a lier, a fraud and an arrogant jerk!
