Progressive's client rear ends me on the 8 freeway in San Diego over 2 years ago. 5pm, I'm on my way to school for my MBA. They admit guilt, tell me to get treatment for my injuries. They pay to have $1800 in car damage done so I thought I would have no problem getting reimbursed medical bills.

I send in bills of $5,000 after treatment, and they refuse to pay. So I went to get an MRI and proved I have a 3-4 mm protrusion in my low back at L4-5 with an annular tear. They still refuse to pay $5,000 in chirporator bills. As you can see below, they only offered me $2,050. Since I paid these medical on my credit cards, I am out the $5k. So I hired an attorney, and they still won't pay.

Now, I have to fly down from Seattle to San Diego to contest $2,500 in medical bills. I don't live there, and it's hell trying to fight this out of state. I am taking Progressive to court April 21st in San Diego. I have to incure MORE bills such as another MRI and Orthopedic surgeon to prove the damage on my back. Plus my travel expenses, time off from work to go to court.

I have to supply Progressive with a list of witnesses, a list of my friends who have witnessed my back pain. I have submitted photos of my medicine cabinet. They have contacted all my employers. This is absolutely hell.

Here is the email from Tracy Haner with Progressive from November 2005. This case is going on OVER 2 years. I am totally annoyed that I have to go to court, fly DOWN to San Diego for court over $5K in medical bills they already verbally agreed to pay. They have admitted fault.

Going to court over this, is the MOST ridiculous waste of time. I would recommend to stay away from this company if at all possible. They are a NASTY company. Tracy is NASTY. Progressive's client, who hit me, might have to pay the $5k. They are horrible. Progressive makes it hell on the victims. You betcha I hope I win this case in court April 21st.

Worst, is my girlfriend's husband works for Progressive in Washington. He makes over 6 figures at Progressive, and is an a*****e like the rest of them. They have three houses. And they can't pay $5K.

Dear XXXX (me):

I have reviewed your case. There are several issues, or problem areas,with this case that just make any high dollar settlement not feasible.

The full amount of my initial evaluation is $2050, any additional consideration is minimal at best. No future care will be considered as we have causation concerns pertaining to your injuries and medical treatment as it is. The loss of earnings you submitted is so far removed from the date of loss that I cannot consider that as part of the settlement either.

Originally I considered only the treatment you received in San Diego as reasonable. In an effort to resolve this case I can give you the month of February for your medical treatment as well. However, I cannot give you the charges billed by Associated Chiropractic. Their bills are incredibly excessive. The supplies are included in the procedure charge and this facility billed $50 per treatment for supplies, they charged $108 for a procedure whose code indicates it's a 15 minute procedure. They also billed another $48 for manipulation. A standard chiropractic visit with

several modalities generally runs around $90 per session, maybe $100, but definitely not $206-$223 per tx.

You had 5 tx in February. I will consider those 5 treatments at $100 per visit. The offer for full and final settlement is now $2500.

You must realize I have to look at the severity of the impact, the nature of the treatment, the consistency of the treatment, whether or not the charges are reasonable, how your age and physical condition would affect your injury, medical documentation to support the healing process for an injury of this nature. Nothing in this claim or surrounding your diagnosed injury supports the medical treatment you received. This is the best I can do.

Insurance companies always figure in how much  it would cost them in court  ( or  how many claimants would just give in)  compared to what it would cost to pay what the client is asking,
  its the way it works,  all smiles when you pay your bill, but frowns ( and usually the middle finger and raised rates)  when you have a claim

Hi, I was reading about getting ripped off by Progressive claims and its just bad for you to to go off topic and make rude comments about this female's size or weight. Being cute is a term in the eyes of everyone, some have it and some don't.

I understand your frustration with Progressive and how employees are picked and trained to deceive good customers. This is how Progressive scams people out of their money and then denies coverage due to technical BS in their paperwork.

AMY DAVIS IS THE MISS. UTAH FROM 2006. NOW SHE IS HANDLING INSURANCE CLAIMS. SHE WORKS FOR PURCO. SHE MISSED HANDLED MY CLAIM AND OVERCHARGED ME. SHE ALSO IS NOT AS CUTE, MUCH FATTTER AS A CLAIMS ADJUSTER THAN MISS. UTAH. SORRY PURCO.
