I am an ex customer service rep for Quality magazines. Buyer beware. Never never never give out your personal information over the phone when someone calls to tell you, you won something. This company had a Phillipines based customer service, paying them 2 bucks a day, what we do here for 500 bucks a week. It seems the Phillipines people ruined their company, so they tell us. They gave everyone refunds, which is a big no no in the company.
We are constantly told to be ruthless with the customer, even if we are told by a customer they lost their job, theres a sickness or death. We are told to enforce discounts, try anything to keep the customer. Never give a refund, unless the customer threatens with a lawyer or BBB. We the employees are pulled aside and reviewed for performance according to how many we cancelled and how many we saved. If we dont save enough customers, we are terminated. We are given a bonus for how many customers we save.
The way the company works is as follows: A sales rep calls stating the customer won something, usually a gift card to walmart and they need a credit card to process it to cover the mailing charges of 3.88. Then the customer is told they will be under a 40 day trial period and then will be charged a full 129.30 for magazines for 2 years. Only thing is, the customer never hears that. So they give their card, thinking they are getting a giftcard in return.
A week later they receive a letter that looks like junk mail, with a cardboard rewards card to redeem online. Another company handles that and the customer has to send in receipts, only thing is most people don't. I never heard of anyone ever getting a gift card eventually. Most people dont have a computer, so they are told to go to a library to do this. Then the magazines start getting delivered. Most people forget to call by the deadline date, they are then charged. Customers start calling for a refund and most are very very upset.
The company is in Boca Ration Fl. They tell people Delaware, which is a lie. They will be moving again. They are a small office with no windows, the workes face a wall in a cubicle, they have about 8 employees, mostly minorities, for a federal tax break they get. The HR. girl is a minority who is never on the employees side. The owners are 2 young guys, who are always in their offices and never interact with the employees. One of their wives works from home.
Hope this helps those who have been scammed. Again, buyer beware !
