We held to the price they were quoted for the radiator. Wife's in person authorization was given to do additional work including changing hoses, clamps, adding antifreeze and ATF along with an additional 1/2 labor. Again, the wife came into the shop and gave us her authorization IN PERSON. When the Mr. came to pick up the vehicle, he reviewed the bill and claimed that we had done unauthorized work and refused to pay. He then stated he would file a complaint with the New York State Motor Vehicle Bureau quoting the form number from memory. He stated he would pay by credit card and contest payment to the credit card company. He was then told that cash only would be accepted in order for the vehicle to be released. An argument ensued over cash payment. A discount of $18.86 was applied to the bill to try and satisfy the customer leaving a balance due of $400. The customer left, complaining about payment terms, then returned with payment. His complaint was filed with the NYS Motor Vehicle Complaint division and followed up with us. All information was faxed to them and reviewed. We were informed by the investigator that nothing improper was done including all pricing of parts and labor. A complaint was also filed with the credit card company of which was satisfied in writing that the card was used as a threat of revoking payment. An additional note - the Mr. called our office making a threatening call to one of our secretaries making her feel unsafe to be in the office. Customers such as this one give good businesses a bad name.
