RBSL - Unsecuredline.com Deceptive sales practices South Jordan, Utah
In July 2007, I was looking for credit to pay down credit cards (used to finance a business expansion in 2007) that had increased interest rates despite a good credit score (mid-700). I contacted RBSL and was called by their rep. Agreed to the $349.00 fee; asked what other fees were involved and was told that RBSL took a percentage of whatever loan THEY secured for my business, and that most customers just included that fee in the loan amount. That was not unreasonable; they need to make some money for their effort, so I agreed and gave a credit card # to pay the initial fee.
A week or so later, I was called by Cody Rich (ironically enough) and given a VERY high-pressure sales pitch to buy the "optimizer" report for TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED dollars more. I was skeptical and asked why that had not been mentioned in my initial contact; he didn't really answer, just kept talking and said there was NO WAY I could get approved without this report. He also told me it was FULLY refundable!! This is a flat-out lie.
I did sign the contract and $2500.00 was put on my credit card. There was no other contact from RBSL once the money was taken.
I now have an additional $3000.00 on a credit card, my FICO score has dropped, and NOTHING from RBSL.
I have filed a complaint with the FTC (www.ftc.gov) and have disputed the charges with my credit card company.
