RCA aka THOMSON ripoff Won't send refund Durant Oklahoma
On 2/20/03 I bought a RCA Lyra mp3 player. In June I bought an external memory card for the player, however the player would not read the card. Took the player into the Target store I bought it from. Couldn't return it to Target because it was over the 3 month limit but they did confirm that it was the player and not the memory card by testing other cards.
Called RCA/Thomson. They told me to send in the player with all the accessories and the receipt so I could get a replacement. Over a month went by until I got a letter from the company saying that it couldn't be fixed or replaced and I would get a refund within "4-6 weeks." I called and spoke with a supervisor named Chistopher (operator # L54655). I asked why it took a month and a half just for me to get a letter saying I have to wait at least another month for a refund. He said "that's just how long it takes." At the end of the conversation he said that I would definitely get my refund check by 9/30/03.
I called today, 9/22/03 to make sure that I would still be getting my refund. I was told that it would be another 6-8 weeks from today. The rep, Jennifer (L53701) in the Escalation Dept said it didn't matter what the letter or the supervisor told me. When I asked "how do I know that in another 6-8 weeks I won't be told it's going to be another 6-8 weeks?" she would not give me any guarantee. She just kept repeating herself about it being another 6-8 weeks. Also would not get a supervisor or manager for me.
When I tried to talk to Chistopher she said she couldn't transfer me. So I called back and was told by supervisor Brenton (L54655) he wasn't available and that I would just have to wait another 6-8 weeks. And once again he couldn't give me a straight answer on if they would push it back again.
When told that I would report this to a consumer advocate group, Brenton said "that's your choice."
