Was attempting to book Buffalo Mountain Lodge in Banff and mistakenly clicked on website . Thought it was official site for hotel. The fake site pulls adds and Trip Advisor content from the internet to appear official. After clicking on the link to the fake website, I did not notice URL had changed to . I made a booking with credit card.

Immediately received email from my credit card company alerting to 2 transactions- One charge from almost 2x what was advertised on site, and one charge for $20 from . Reservations.com claims they will send a confirmation email upon completion of booking. I did not receive any emails from them.

Arrived at hotel on day I had booked with fake company and they did not have a room for me. They only had a booking for a date 3 weeks in the future, under Expedia.com. Called number listed on fake website 800-916-4339 and spoke to 2 employees both who identified themselves as a third party call centre acting on behalf of  and refused to identify themselves or the people tey work for at . They promised a refund, but of course I didn't receive one. I received a phony email from 'Travelscape' from reply@travelnow. They were sneaky and set their replies to be sent to [email protected].

I am convinced all three companies do not exist (5 companies if Travelscape and travelnow are counted)

To date I have found that supposedly their 800-916-4339 number is registered to Verizon. Will contact Verizon, but do not expect any answer or help from them. has 3 unawsered complaints against them in the Los Angeles county BBB. has a 3 unanswered complaints from the Alaska, Oregon, and Western Washington BBB. Both BBB entries have street adresses listed that are probably fake.

I am in the process of filing a police fraud complaint in my city and with the RCMP, and will see if the hotel will give any information to add to the police report. I will try to contact the cities where the fake adresses appear in. I am contacting Expedia to ask if these companies are indeed affiliated with them and will post to their public social media pages if they do not respond.

I encourage you to do the same and share with friends and family that they should be careful when making online purchases.
