Fortunately Jeff Stratton presents his case better in writing than he does in person. He had been unnecessarily rude when he had come to rent the truck and on the day he came to return his truck my poor employee, Amanda, was entirely unprepared to deal with his hostility again and I was forced to step in. He had arrived with an under gassed truck and, as he was obviously aware of this fact, ( he even sent a photo of the undergassed gas gauge to the Justice Dept) he decided that his best bet was to take it out on Amanda, then myself. In a situation in which I am faced with a hostile individual, the best thing to do is to be brief and keep them from my employees and customers so I had him meet me outside at the truck he had rented. He was yelling on the way out that "the fxxxin' truck better not be broken!". I drove it forward and back to see if the gauge would move his favor (which would have been good for us too as we could wrap it up and be done with this guy) but alas no, no movement from the gauge. In this case, where the rentals before ( and subsequently, after) him had been fine with no issues with gassing, my job is to take down the numbers and enter them into the Uhaul system. I have no way of altering the fees that the Uhaul system has setup. They are based entirely upon just how far under gassed a truck is when returned. This is why I had explained that they (meaning Uhaul, not Reviva which has nothing to do with the Uhaul transactions) would be assessing fees. I did exactly as he said at this point and encouraged him to contact Uhaul for further assistance which is what I would do for any of the Uhaul customers that had questions or needed help...and there was certainly no way for me to spend another half moment with this individual that continued to cuss me out, finishing by calling me a "Fxxxing Cxxt!" which was completely unnecessary. Reviva never took money from Jeff Stratton, Uhaul did. Whose fault is it that the truck was returned undergassed when he picked up the truck with a full tank? Not mine and not Reviva's. And who is the individual that holds the contract and, therefore the interest in getting some sort of compensation if there was some sort of technical problem? So isn't it their responsibility to follow up even if a Uhaul representatve doesn't return their call immediately? It is written in every Uhaul contract that issues are to be taken up with the Uhaul company directly, not the dealership. Instead he has attacked the little guy, a local business that does not hold the reigns in any rental interaction. Unfortunately it seems that this is what people that enjoy the attack do. Sad.
