I found Rick Shifflet advertising puppies on puppyfind.com. I found a puppy I liked labeled as a French Bulldog. I spoke with Cindee Shifflet on the phone. She told me they raise the puppies indoors, they are handled daily. I asked if the puppy I was interested in had a docked tail, she admitted it was docked but done by a vet. I told Cindee I wanted to place a deposit on the puppy, and pay him off in a weeks time. She was happy with that arrangement and promised to send pictures of the b***h, Stud and updated pics of the specific puppy we wanted. Once I placed a deposit Cindee became very hard to get a hold of. The pictures I requested never came and she made up excuses ( it was nearly Xmas so I humored Cindee). She did send a poor quality video but it was too far away to see any faults the puppy may have had. I requested pictures but Cindee was rude and said she was busy and didn't have the time. I decided to pay off the puppy sooner than expected and have him shipped because something seemed fishy. I asked Cindee Shifflet if our puppy had received a parvovirus shot via text message ( the 5 way or 7 way shot is commonly given), she messaged me that my puppy had been given 3 parvovirus shots and his records would be with him on the shipping crate. Cindee Shifflet never once indicated that my puppy had suffered from either an infected docked tail, poorly docked tail, or chewed on tail. Looking back at the advertised photos it's clear the photos were taken in such a way to make the dock appear healthy with no signs of damage to the tail. The puppy also looked rather gaunt but sometimes smaller puppies don't get as much milk from their mother ( another red sign I should have noticed). Upon receiving my puppy at the airport it was obvious I had been lied to.
Our puppy arrived dirty with flakey skin and ear mites. I immediately noticed a large protruding mass of scar tissue and skin at the end of our dogs tail. I have seen backyard breeders do awful " home" docked tails without the help of a veterinarian before and that is the best I can describe what I was looking at. Upon viewing the "shot records" I noticed there was only one set of vaccination stickers ( each puppy vaccine requires two bottles with small stickers that are to be removed and saved as proof for veterinarians), not the three sets she claimed would be there. I messaged Cindee Shifflet via text at the airport and explained that I expected her to pay for the vet costs associated with correcting the botched tail job. She has refused all contact since. I filed multiple claims with paypal and will be contacting the BBB. After doing some research it's clear she is claiming her puppies are breeds they are not. Rick and Cindee Shifflet had at least three puppies listed that were all born on the same day, looked nearly identical, but were labeled entirely different. One was listed as a Boston terrier, one as a French Bulldog, and one as a Frenchie. Cindee and Rick Shifflet have no bad reviews on puppyfind.com because they have the ability to remove buyer responses they do not like. Why would the breeders not send pics of the puppies b***h or stud? Why didn't she send me updated pics of our puppy when requested? They are hiding information and were hiding a botched tail job IMHO! The bad tail docking and falsified shot records are a joke. If they are going to create designer breeds, they should sell them as such and not label them "pure bred". Our puppy will be going to our vet in the morning for an assessment and to see if the tail damage can be corrected. Cindee Shifflet claims I don't like the looks of my puppies tail, and want it altered at her expense. Cindee Shifflet is attempting to hide the fact that she concealed the damaged tail and did not disclose the botched job. She is correct, I don't like the tail, it is not what Cindee advertised. I feel she should be responsible for the cost of tail repair and puppy shots that were never given.

We bought an AKC Newfoundland puppy from her.The dog was advertised as AKC,she told us in person the dog was AKC,
She has not provided any AKC papers for the dog.We called, she does not answer her phone;left numerous voice mails.
We texted her, talked to her mother many times. She has not answered us at all.We wrote her without any response from her.
This has been going on for over 4 months without any respose from her at all.I would not buy a dog from her. There are
many breeders to choose from, don't buy from one that you aren't sure you can trust.

On March 30, 2016 purchased a puppy from Maplehurst Kennel ,East Sparta, Ohio. Took it to my local vet to be informed the puppy had parvovirus, which turned out to be a deadly puppy disease.
The puppy passed away.
I just want to warn anyone who may be thinking of purchasing a puppy from this kennel. My husband and I are devestated and cannot have another puppy in our home for 9 months.

I have purchased 3 puppies from Cindee .... 2 for myself and 1 for my 76 year old mom. I found her to be very professional and completely up front. Our puppies received all their shots, and wormings. Hahaha my vet even purchased one of her puppies. Anyway....they were healthy, social, and just being puppies. I would recommend maple heights to anyone
