on Jan 27, 2015 my car was stolen from my house, I filed a report with the police, given two phone numbers so they can contact me later, the car was found 4 days later on Jan 30, 2015, Police contact me until February 05, 2015, now the Car storage facility is charging me about $700.00 to recover my car, im trying to contact the police Detective on charge of my case to ask why I have to pay that amount and why they never contact me right away when the car was found and I was told they don't have to do it right away.
My conclusion is that they work together to make money on consumers by not contacting us right away, so they can charge us for all those days the car was on storage For me this is a Repoff... i would appreciate your advice thank you

In the real world:
Your car gets stolen, you call the police and your insurance company. The following is advice from my Insurance broker.
Next: The nice police man finds your car, (my pickup was not found ) He will be concerned a stolen car has been used in a crime so he will examine the car, if there is no blood, guts or large quantity of drugs he wants it to sit a few days at the impound so it will be available for the fingerprint guys. Just in case it was used in a felony.
He doesn't care that there is a storage or impound fee, Insurance pays for 90% of this stuff. Not the owner.
The Police call you after they feel it is reasonable to release the car.
Now you should call your Insurance company and tell them where the car is and request a safety and damage inspection, including an Alignment.
Now it gets a little sticky, my insurance company drops the car off after its inspection, directly to the owner with the inspection sheets. I am assured that this not the normal service level by my Broker, My policy is slightly more delux than most. You would probably need to move the vehicle from shop to shop if it is driveable. If not the insurance company will pay the tow bills.
If you don't have insurance for theft, OOPs and sorry about your luck

Like the police have nothing better to do than sit around and collaborate with tow truck drivers/storage yards to make money??? You are not living in the real world!! They handle more cases than you can possibly imagine and cannot be your personal secretary!! Grow up -
