Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My daughter won a $100 scholarship to a pageant hosted by Pennie and John Stathes.

Her total entry fee was $245.00. We sold $300.00 in ads to help toward the remainder of the cost. Half of her ad sales were to go toward her entry and the other half for the actual ad. No format was specified for this other than "ready to print 1/2 or full page... NO EXCEPTIONS." This could mean paper taped to poster board for all some people know. The person who sold the most ads was suppose to receive a 3 ft trophy and $100 savings bond. This winner was not announced at the pageant like it was suppose to be.

During the pageant when the program book was released for sale we learned that all of the ads that we sent were either wrong or not included. It was suppose to be available the night before and if it had been and I had seen it, we would have addressed this issue before the pageant. Our sponsors did not have any kind of contact information. The only thing they listed for the businesses that actually made it into the program book were business names. I approached Pennie Stathes after the pageant about this and was told that "our computer crashed and that I'm a stand up person and will make it right."

I know that she received these ads ready to print because she even replied to my e-mail when I sent them to her. I sent the document 2 times. The second time I sent it, it had one change. We had a last minute sponsor and added 1/2 page. She can not say that she didn't receive the document that I sent her. They now claim that we sent them in the wrong format, however none was specified and others in the program book were just photocopies of pages cut and taped together. All they had to do was print the document and photocopy it with the rest of the book.

After several attempts to contact Pennie and John Stathes after the pageant, they finally returned e-mail. They posted a banner on thier website stating that my daughter had tied for Ad Sales Winner. I felt that this was a ploy to have us stop pursuing refunds for our sponsors. However, I have pursued trying to receive refunds for our sponsors so that eventually they may sponsor my daughter again. If my sponsors thought that I didn't care about their money - how would they feel?

They have finally agreed to refund my daughters sponsors in full after I mail them another $145 to cover her entry fee. This would mean that she would refund a total of $300.00 divided to 6 sponsors ($50 each). I offered to have her only refund 3 sponsors totaling $150. This would leave my daughters entry fee paid and keep money from swapping hands a million times. This would save them money in the long run because she would not have to pay for the extra 3 certified checks.

I DO NOT have a problem at all with paying her entry fee. Several of our sponsors were family, including ourselves, and agreed to let her keep their money to cover my daughters entry. I refuse to give them anymore money because I feel they are trying to take advantage of us and will not do as they say they will and refund my daughters sponsors.

They say that if they refund my daughters sponsors, because they did not print the ad correctly, that my daughter did not sell any ads and therfore is ineligible to receive her award. I believe they are stealing from my daughter. She rightfully deserves that savings bond and trophy.

Pennie and John Stathes have still not refunded $150 to sponsors or sent award to my daughter. People already think pageants are bad due to the publicity in recent years. There are some good pageants out there but these directors are NOT organized or fit for directing pageants. If you go to their website you will see how unorganized they are - some things say contestants ages are 2 and up and others say 3 and up. Their rules aren't even clear cut. In her correspondence to me, she didn't even know my daughters age and repeatedly spells her name incorrect.

Pennie and John Stathes are in it for one reason and one reason only - MONEY. Mr. Stathes does the photography and no one else is allowed. You have to buy this from them directly. All children are charged admittance, even under 3. Both parents are charged admittance. I've never been to a pageant that one parent wasn't free. Obviously someone has to be with those small children. Like I said, it's all about money, money, money!!

We have repeatedly tried to resolve this matter with them and have had no luck. We have been given excuse after excuse such as they work 50 hours a week and they have family issues and even told that we weren't their first priortiy. I am sorry but this is no way to run a business.

I HOPE EVERYONE WILL SEE THEM FOR WHO THEY REALLY ARE!

I didn't know Pennie or anyone related to the pageant world when I competed and WON my title as Miss Forsyth County.  Yes, she knew some of the people I was competing against and their parents but she was friendly to everyone and asked ALL of us if we needed help with anything to get ready.

She didn't judge the pageant and if she called out the name of who she wanted to win instead of the correct name the judges would have been all over her. I had an amazing time and would do it again (if I wasn't too old now).  Pageants are meant to be fun and build confidence.

To Kelly - Your daughter's sash is being mailed.  I would have thought you would have prefered to act as an adult and not hide behind a false email address. For what ever the reason is, no one deserves to be written about here. Best wishes to you in your future pageant ventures.

My daughter won a pageant with the Stathes. Proper prizes as promised were not at the pageant. I know of girls still waiting on gift cards promised and awards to be given. This is a money making  venture for this family.

As much as Pennie can state she is on the better side of this debate, she has a long trail of parents who have been ripped off by her system. She has revoked crowns because people could not afford to make the drive to her events. She has failed to provide the promised awards to contestants who have earned them. These are full price paying contestants not contestants with sponsors too.

Very disorganized and you can follow the line on facebook of all the disgruntled ripped off parents.

To anyone reading this and considering paying money to enter your child in this pageant...there are some things you should know...that I wish I had known prior!! 1) Very Unorganized! Couldnt get the simplest things right...even with emails from them confirming certain things submitted were properly received, came to the pageant and they were ALL screwed up. 2) Pageant Director shows CLEAR favortism to contestants based on her history with them, her relationship with their parents or the contestants friendship with previous winners and the outcome supports this...example, The official photographers daughter WON...and an MAO certified judge in the audience didnt even have this girl placing in the top 10!! The girl the pageant director swooned over all weekend has a CLOSE relationship with lasts years winner in that age group...she WON...the mom of one of last years winners who the pageant director has a close relationship with...did hair and make up on two girls and both won...one had never even placed in a pageant before and it showed on stage, yet she won! 3) This is the kicker...the Pageant Director sat at the tabulators table...once the scores were in from the judges...and worked on the scores for over an hour...in plain site of the audience...the MAO accredited judge I sat close to claimed in her 25years doing pageants she has NEVER seen this...its highly UNETHICAL for any pageant director to see the scores until tabulation is complete....and its clear she hand picked the winners based on HER PREFERENCES!!!! 4) Poorly Organized, COMPLETE Lack of Integrity....SAVE YOUR MONEY...it is a RIP OFF!!!!

Again, if anyone would like additional information regarding this matter, please contact us. We have nothing to hide and will present the truth. As any business owner knows, when making a refund, you have to keep records. We offered to refund Tracy and Jay when the phone conversation was held with Jay. It was not a "finally" situation. Jay left one voice mail and we returned Tracy's email with a time the phone call would be returned. It has been offered from the begining. We said we would do what was right at the pageant and still want to do what is right. Tracy and Jay will not allow us to. Tracy and Jay would not provide information for us to even contact the sponsoring companies. We still do not have the information for the "dress shop" Tracy has accused us of leaving out of the ads. We would glady list it along with the other sponsors if we had the information. We have not blackmailed or threatened anyone as Tracy has. This started from the first preliminary Tracy entered her child in of ours. Tracy called complaining before we were out of the parking lot because someone said they thought her child had won an additional award Tracy had paid $10 for. (This was because a lady who sells jewlery did not hear the child's name called as a runner up). We have responded to the other offices Tracy has reported us to. We have nothing to hide. Again, if anyone has any questions, please contact us. *Tracy and Jay's daughter's awards were revoked not for this report, but for the negative comments and behaviors documented as well as blackmail statements and threats. As she stated here, "if they did not do as I desired"... We will continue to do what is right. It is not fair for Tracy and Jay's daughter to compete for free when everyone else had to pay. Again, we will glady refund ALL OF THE SPONSORS - ALL OF THEM, a total of $300, once the fees are paid. That is the right and fair thing to do. No need for anymore threats and blackmails Tracy and Jay, just allow us to do the right thing so that everyone can move on.

As I noted in my first report - they did FINALLY offer to refund $300 after I send another $145. WHAT WOULD THE POINT OF THIS BE? Why send them $145 just so they could send myself and my mother-in-law $150.00. No matter what, they still did not send my daughter her deserved award. This has now been revoked due to the fact that I posted this original report and reported them to the better business bureau. There were no negative actions taken. The only thing I did was file a report with the BBB and this ripoff report. I guess that was negative. The fact that she put notes next to my daughters picture that she was, to sum it up, disqualified due to my actions was VERY UNACCEPTABLE. I did tell her that if it was not resolved to our desire that I would be filing with the BBB and Ripoff Report. I did this from the advice of a local news channel. I also have everything well documented. I am tired of arguing with these people. I wish them the best. This situation is now being handled in a different manner. I do not wish to keep posting reports. I was through with the bickering with the e-mails and that is why I took the actions that I took. I ASK THAT ALL PARENTS WATCH OUT FOR YOUR CHILDREN FROM PEOPLE LIKE THIS! THIS IS PARTLY WHY PAGEANTS LOOK BAD TO SO MANY PEOPLE! Let me leave you with this story - A dog and a cat were sitting on the side of the road. A car was driving down the road when the dog throws the cat into the road - the car swerves and hits the dog. Moral - The things you do to others will always come back and bite you.

To Whom It May Concern: All efforts were made to refund all of the sponsors obtained by Tracy & Jay. These sponsorships were to assist with her daughter's entry fee to the state pageant. Tracy and Jay did obtain a total of $300.00 in sponsorship. $145.00 of that covered the entry fee for their daughter. Numerous documented attempts to refund the full total of $300.00 once Tracy and Jay paid the then due entry fee of $145.00 were made. A phone conversation was also held with Jay on 8/22/2006 explaining the same was held. It was also explained in this phone conversation with Jay that if no refunds were made that the matter would be closed and all awards would be sent. Numerous requests from us to Tracy were made requesting the contact information for each sponsor to allow for a certified letter of apology and explanation to be mailed along with their refund once the entry fee of $145.00 was paid. Still today, Tracy and Jay have declined. Our documented conversation with Tracy began turning into threats and demands. As stated on this very website, YOU MUST NOT call them threatening to file a report if they do not comply with your demands. This may be construed as blackmail - -. Tracy sent an email dated 9/5/06 at 4:33:53 pm threatening with the following I hope that you respond positively to this request and that this matter can be resolved without leaving negative comments for your business. This meant sending the three major sponsors a total of $150.00 and her daughter's awards. Again on 9/5/06 in an email addressed to Tracy, we expressed our desire to refund all of the sponsorship, a total of $300.00 once her daughter's entry fee of $145.00 was paid. We asked that she provide us with the necessary information to do so by noon on 9/8/06. As documented, if we did not hear back from her by that time, the matter would be closed and her daughter's awards would have been sent (as explained to Jay during the phone conversation on 8/22/06). Tracy immediately replied with yet another threat/blackmail of the same listed above but shorting the time to noon on 9/7/06. Not only did she threaten/blackmail us with leaving negative comments on this website, but as per our documentation, others agencies are listed as well. We are still willing to refund all sponsors in full which is a total of $300.00 once their daughter's entry fees of $145.00 are paid, even though the entry form Tracy signed on June 30, 2006 states the following By submitting this signed application, I understand that all judge's decisions are final and well not be disputed. Any negative or inappropriate behavior will result in contestant disqualification with all awards being forfeited. Royal Productions, USA< Miss Georgia Girl, Pennie Howard, John Stathes or any volunteer can not be held liable for damages or injury to individuals before, during or after event. I understand that No Refunds will be given in the event I do not attend this event or if I am displeased with the outcome. I understand that any photography taken during events may include my daughter or myself and may be used in various forms of advertisements during the year. All returned checks will have a $35 NSF fee plus collection fees. After numerous documented negative comments were made by Tracy, the following certified letter was sent and received by Tracy on 9/14/2006: Jay and Tracy September 11, 2006 Jay and Tracy: Due to our well documented examples of your negative actions and comments concerning Miss Georgia Girl and the staff, you leave us with no alternative but to eradicate your daughter's announcement of Co-Ad Sales Winner, 2006 and all awards. Enclosed is a copy of your daughter's registration form signed by Tracy dated June 30, 2006 which clearly speaks to our decision in this matter. The statement found on our website also refers to this type of behavior: All images, photos, and information contained on this site, is owned by Royal Productions, USA/Miss Georgia Girl sm. No image, picture or information from www.missgeorgiagirl.com or any links may be copied without written consent from the owners. No type of slander, bad sportsmanship or bashing will be tolerated from any parent, contestant or visitor. All slanderous, damaging, false, detrimental actions; spoken, written or physical by any parent, contestant, visitor regarding this system, any individual associated with or a part of can be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. As stated on all entry forms: Any negative or inappropriate behavior will result in contestant being disqualified and awards forfeited. Jay and Tracy, we truly regret having to make this decision, however you left us with no other option. Best wishes in your future endeavors. Miss Georgia Girl Royal Productions, USA Again, should Tracy and Jay make the decision to pay their daughter's entry fee of $145.00; we will still refund the full amount of $300.00 submitted by the sponsors. All state sponsors, as well as those obtained by Tracy and Jay, are and will continue to be listed on our web site. Tracy and Jay sponsors are listed with what information was provided after that fact and with an explanation and apology. If any documentation is requested to further substantiate this matter, please contact us. Respectively submitted, Royal Productions, USA
