S.A.F.E. Staffing in Dallas, Texas does not pay you for the work you do! Use extreme caution before working for this company. I was paid for less than half of the money owed to me for what I actually worked. Here is what happened.

S.A.F.E. Staffing hired me to work in a warehouse in Garland, Texas. However, on my first day of training, another company I had applied for contacted me to work for them as well. After my fourth day on the job, I called the agency that evening and said I was going to be taking this other job and would not be able to continue working for the warehouse anymore.

My four days of work for this company were split between two pay periods. We were paid weekly on a Monday through Friday pay period. I worked Thursday-Tuesday. I was told that since I didn't give a two weeks notice, the second pay period I would only be paid minimum wage instead of $9.50. Whatever, that was fine. I usually don't just quit on a job without a notice anyway, but my new job wanted me to begin immediately. The warehouse job had new people coming in almost daily with minimum training required.

I went in on Thursday to get my first check. I was told by the receptionist and one of the other supervisors that I had to wait another week. I thought that was weird because I was told by my immediate supervisor that we would always get paid the first Thursday after the pay period. Regardless, I returned the next week and they paid me $105 in cash. This was a mistake on my part. There was no check stub, no documentation of how many hours I worked and what I was paid for. At this point I didn't care though, I had a new job. I just wanted my money for the hours I had worked so I took it. Do not accept cash from this company without a pay stub! Not to mention, this came out to $7.00 an hour for the hours I had worked.

When I returned two weeks later for the rest of my check, the supervisor told me that they had already paid me and that they didn't owe me anything. I explained that they had paid me for one pay period when I had worked two. He said he would have to go to the warehouse and check my timecard on the computer. He said he would call me in a day or two and if he didn't, to call him. Well, I called him almost a week later and he said he didn't see my hours. When he told me the dates he checked, I informed him that he had the wrong dates that I had worked. At this point it had been more than a month since the last day I worked. He said he would check again and call me back. He didn't call back, and the message I left for him was unreturned. By that time I just gave up on ever seeing my money. I was employed and making better money by this point, and it didn't seem like enough money to make a bigger fuss and take things higher.

The bottom line is that this company will pay you in cash, is unorganized, and doesn't keep good records. I'm not sure if they were blatantly trying to rip me off or if they were just that lousy at record keeping. Either way, I ended up being compensated for less than half of my time working for them. What's really interesting is that when I went in there the last time for my check, there were multiple other people in there trying to figure out what was wrong with their checks or direct deposits as well! Use caution before working for this temp agency!
