On August 19th, I used Verispy via SafeCart to utilize a one-time only information request. The charge was $2.95 -- I knew what the charge was and I agreed to it. I paid for this charge using my PayPal account. It showed up as a debit of $2.95. So far, everything is fine.
However, on August 24th, I noticed that my PayPal account was debited for the amount of $24.95. I went to PayPal and noted that SafeCart/Verispy had charged my PayPal account for $24.95. I investigated further and found that they had instituted a monthly payment to SafeCart/Verispy of $24.95 -- something that I had never seen before nor had I agreed to it. I am one of the few people who read all the fine print on any internet agreement, and I know that I would have never agreed to this.
I've canceled the monthly charge (though I'm still out $24.95) and I will make sure that PayPal knows that I will not approve of any other charges. However, this is a real criminal enterprise, and having read the previous reports on this site, I am astonished that they're still in business.
