I have purchased two TV's from Walmart mfg by Sceptre. Both have had issues with not turning on, this is the Sceptre 32 inch HD LCD TV. I purchased 2 TV's from Walmart made by Sceptre on Nov. 22, 2012. They both have issues. The first one had problems turning on about 6 months after the purchase. I called Walmart, because I had purchased the extended warranty from them, but because it was still under factory warranty, they said I should contact Sceptre. Sceptre told me I should try unplugging the TV and then re-plug it in. That worked for a while, but then they finally replaced or fixed the TV when that stopped working. About a year later the same TV died again and would not turn on. This time is was out of factory warranty, although, I thought that should have started over at the time of it getting fixed or replaced.
Anyway, I contacted Walmart and they replaced it/fixed it. Meanwhile, the second TV was having the same problem but the unplugging and re-plugging was working for quite a while and it seemed as long as we could resolve it that way, Sceptre was not willing to replace it. Well, after the warranty ran out with both Sceptre and Walmart, the TV finally died and would not turn on. So I contacted them on March of 2016. They said since it was out of warranty, they would not fix it, but this is a known problem. There a so many complaints about this online, I lost count. They said it was most likely the power board.
They said I could purchase one for 100.00, just 50 dollars less that what a paid for the TV. What a deal! I talked them down to 50.00, because I didn't want to throw away a TV that was only about 3/4 years old. What a waste. When power board was then installed it did not fix the problem, so I called them again, to see if they would re-think taking the TV back and fixing it, but they said it would be cheaper for me to purchase a new one from Walmart. If this is such a known problem, why don't they re-call this model of TV's? and why should I have to pay for the the repair and the board didn't fix the problem, why couldn't I get me money back for it? No refunds. So their TV's are only built to last 6 months to 4 years?
