We had a similar experience with Scott Koppenhafer, LLC: http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/282/RipOff0282098.htm We had paid him nearly $25,000 (86%) of a contract for vinyl siding installation, soffit and fascia replacement, vinyl window replacement, interior/closet door replacement, and 10' X 8' deck installation. None was completed and ALL OF IT failed Town of Clifton Park inspection! We too had to hire another contractor to bring ALL THE WORK Scott Koppenhafer, LLC did UP TO CODE to satisfy Town of Clifton Park Building Inspectors! In addition we had to replace all interior carpet and linoleum that was cut and ruined by Scott Koppenhafer, LLC. We also withheld payments when we saw that work was NOT being done nor was it being done to our satisfaction. We reported Scott Koppenhafer, LLC to the Better Business Bureau and we were told in a letter from the BBB that Scott Koppenhafer, LLC's action of abandoning the job was common business practice and that Scott Koppenhafer LLC Company made every reasonable effort to resolve. http://search.buffalo.bbb.org/codbrep.html?ID=3000828 That is a BOLD FACED LIE. Once Scott Koppenhafer himself was told to finish the job to our satisfaction to receive the balance of his contract money HE BOLTED! We even had an attorney contact Scott Koppenhafer, LLC. We never heard from him again. AVOID THIS CONTRACTOR AT ALL COSTS!

I would hire a lawyer, and take him to small claims court for the damages that he caused. I'm not sure you could collect on his part of bad estimation on what it actually cost to finish the project, but you can get him for damages that he caused while on the project. He walked away from an agreement for services that he did not render. Good Luck
