I bought a $1000.00 refrigerator from Sears. I am 70 years old and retired and living off of my social security, but figure that this would be my last ever refrigerator so splurged. My refrigerator came with an ice maker and filtered water. The salesman told me that Sears can send someone to install the pipes to hook up these features for $80.00. I have my own plumber but it seemed less complex just to let Sears handle all of it, the install, the delivery and pick- up of my old refrigerator. This was a HUGE mistake, that I am writing this to warn people to not use Sears!!!!

A couple of days later a man from Sears showed up at my condo and after 3 minutes came out and said he could not install the pipes for my new refrigerator, he said that I would need to buy a different refrigerator that did not have ice and water machine.I just thought he was incompetent and called my plumber. A few days later I recieved a bill from this man and he charged me $35.00 for coming out to my house. Now I was never told either by the salesman nor this man when he was at my home that I would be charged even if he could not do what he was hired to do. I called the store to complain. The salesperson was no help, so I talked to the manager Mary. She wants my plumber to call her, , I then called customer service on the receipt and after about 4 transfers was told they could not help me because I did not use a "Sears credit card". I then wrote to the website customer service and after talking to yet another employee at the Coralville Store who said he would give me back my money, later that night. I waited up until 10:30 pm and he never called me back. The next day I called customer Service again and this time they said there was nothing they could do for me, they had Mary the store Manager on the phone and even though just the night before I was told I would get a refund today I was told no I would not. I feel like I am dealing with a rinky dink company so beware. They are NOT interested in Customer service. They have been rude and worse of all I would have never ever aggreed to have Sears install the plumbing if I knew that if they could not do the job I would be charged this $35.00 fee. I would have called my long-time plumber to start with, he never charges for work that he doesn't do just work that he does.
