Shiimmering White , aka Purlywhite or anything similar is another one of those teeth whiting rip off sites. This one in particular has made it exceptionally hard to try contact them to cancel and if you are overseas it virtually impossible. They pull the same scam that that Dazzlesmile pulls (There are already numerous reports on them)
Anyway this is how it works big flashy site promising the world in terms of whiting your teeth with all the usual tons of testimonials, the popup dentist telling you how good this is and how RISK FREE the trial is with all the bells and whistles blowing about their satisfaction guarantee excellent service and so on . The tell tale signs of a scam site are all there and I was dumb enough to fall for It. The $2.95 for the trial, I thought what the hell, if it a scam I dont care about losing $2.95. I think many people think this and thats where the catch is because all they want is your credit card details so they can bill you $82.40 per month for every month plus you will have also unlocked your twenty-one-day Wellbeing Tips Comprehensive eBook package for just $9.80 a month thereafter or some fitness site for $20.40 a month.
Im quite sure the crap they send you is just that crap if their product had any value and is worth something then people would want it and pay a fair price for it not have to join some club and receive monthly shipments.
Back to my experience.. the Alarm bells went off when I completed the order and it now said that I was going to be billed $5.95 instead of the $2.95 plus a site address with a username and password.
Ok so I go back and search the site to why Ive been billed more and WTF are those two websites that Im now members ofWell finally in the terms and conditions which is obscurely hidden away I find the following:
Offer Details: When you order today you'll be signed up as a member of our exclusive preferred customer club. You will be billed $4.95 for the shipping of your 14-day day trial, then once you choose to continue whitening with the Shimmering White System the low member price of only $82.40 per month for every month. And remember, there's never any obligation - you can cancel your membership at anytime by calling 800-856-8676. You have also unlocked your twenty-one-day Wellbeing Tips Comprehensive eBook package for just $9.80 a month thereafter (shows "Wellbeing"), should you choose not to cancel. Prior charges for bonuses are non-refundable but subscription can be cancelled and future charges stopped at any time. To cancel, call toll-free 888-204-5299 for Wellbeing Tips. Orders outside of US pay an additional $9.95 for shipping. No obligation, CANCEL ANYTIME!
I then do go and start at the beginning of the site to see how the F**K I got scammed well the landing page is all full of promise and testimonials and a call to action offering the risk free trail at the $2.95 click on there and you end up at the pace requesting your credit card details. Note that the page lands so that the page is scrolled down a little and the banners look like you are at the top but clearly hiding the small print which says they are about to screw you .. They dont want you to read this they hide it at the top and ensure that the background and text are similar in color and very small. I missed that the first time around and Im sure many others did to. At this point I realize Ive been scamed.
The only thing now is to get out of it .. thank god I did this over the weekend on Sunday and I live in Australia so Im ahead of time to these F**kers so my bank is open and doing business while they still sleeping.
First thing I do is contact the bank and report that my credit card details has fallen into fraudulent hands and everything need to be blocked from now and for evermore into the future. Well they cancel the card which effectively means that any transaction that tries to go through will be blocked. Ill get a new credit card in about a week somewhat of an inconvenience but I guess thats the price Ive got to pay for been an idiot.
Now its almost 11pm Monday night and Im waiting for it to be 9:00am MNT time so I can call try call these F**Kers and cancel everything Im not expecting much success and I also dont trust them. Regardless I want to do everything to ensure no attempt to get any money from me is made.
In Conclusion .. Im usually one who stays away from anything that looks like a scam and I usually can recognize one a mile away, and I did with this but because the initial offer was so low I was prepared to take a chance and wasnt worried about losing $2.95 I learnt my lesson now the small amount is just the bait the tip of the ice berg, the lower and less significant the offering is the bigger the sting is.
The rules are simple its a scam site if the offering is too good to be true, if blogs and articles sites recommend these site, they are just affiliate marketing. If there is no contact details or difficult to find on the site and the address is a P.O.Box No phone numbers. And most importantly always read the terms and conditions of any site before you hand over any financial details.
