On Aug08 my wife and I bought a 06 BMW X5 from their satellite location on Hwy 6. At the time we where currently in a lease agreement with Honda finance company on a 05 pilot which ended on Nov08. At the time of negotiations the sales rep (after talking with the sales manager) offered to pay off the remaining two months of our lease and the miles that we went over on the agreement since I just made a payment the day before our visit. At the time we thought we where getting a great deal and till this day I still think we got a good deal to an extent.
The part that I'm complaining about is the professionalism and lack of Integrity of Ali the general manager of the dealership and everyone else who was involved in the deal. Not anyone who got involve did not take ownership of the problem we had. When we got to the finance part of the deal, the finance manager offered us 5.99APR on the loan and that's what we agreed on. Then to turn around and call my wife and I back to the dealership a few days later because they could not get the finance deal we agreed upon. The new APR was 6.3. Since they misquoted us they agree to pay us back the difference in the APR in check and with I owe you's of a free oil change and a manual for the car. (keep in mind an oil change cost $180.00 on a BMW X5) My wife loved the car so we agreed to the terms.
Now after that, this is when the horror started. Two weeks have passed and we where still waiting on the check for the APR difference. Hurricane Ike hit Houston during the time period. I call Steve and he gives me the news that our car was damaged from the storm and since it happened on their property and they took the car from us they will take care of the damage on the car. I also asked him about the I owe you's and he stated that they will still honor them and he is working on them. A month after we got our car. We where still keeping up on our Honda account online to see if it was ever going to get paid, as SW Kia promised. (no payment posted yet) Of course like any concerned customer. We call the dealership and know one knows of any I owe you's and all the people who worked our deal (of course) no longer work there. Finally we got a hold of Steve the finance manager who worked our deal originally and he helped us by getting our check of the APR difference and I also asked him about the I owe you's and said he was still working with someone at the main office to get that taken care of. He stated that they transferred him to the main dealership since they fired a finance manger who was there before and that is why there was a dely.
Two months passed since we bought the car and the lease on our Honda is still not paid off and there are extra charges on the balance. The extra charges where the damage that occurred during the hurricane. Now at this point we got even more concerned so we got Ali the GM involved. After doing some research on his part, they finally paid the lease off. The damages on the car where left unpaid. Ali then stated that the I owe you's where only good for 30days. I stated if the I owe you's where only good for 30 days then why is it taking you over two months to hold your end of the deal? He stated he will consult with someone and get back with us the following day.
Finally the balance for the lease and mileages paid but no payment for the damages due to the hurricane. A week later we get a hold of Ali, we suggested to make and insurance claim to the damages on our car to their insurance. They tried to make a claim and later it was denied by the insurance company. Ali then stated that since it was a lease that we where held responsible for what ever happened to that car and he was not going to pay. He also said he will not honor the I owe you's since it has passed the 30 day period. My wife stated since you took the car from us and you guys drove the car to Gilman Honda and turned it in for us. You should take some responsibility for it. After consulting with him and reasoning with him with all the trouble we have had. We agreed that we would forfit the oil change and the rest of the I owe you's,(cost of oil change $180.00) If he would take partial responsibility for the damages on our leased car. He agreed to paying $500.00 and the check would be ready on Monday the following week. My wife calls the dealership on Monday and asks if I could pick up the check. Ali stated that she would have to be there because the car was under her name and there is some paper work that she would need to sign off on.
Later that week my wife visits the dealership and with no surprise the check was not ready. Ali insisted she would have to sign off on the paperwork before he could get some on in finance to write the check. My wife stated she will not sign anything until she see's a check. Ali stated it is protocol that we get the paper work done before they write the check. The document states after the payment is finalized they are no longer responsible for anything else moving forward on the car we purchased. My wife signs only one of the two documents and writes only if a check of $500 is paid to me next to her signature. She stated that she will complete the other document when the check is in her hand. Ali stated he will call her in the morning. With no follow up call from Ali. my wife calls the dealership and of course Ali is not there and calls again a few hours later and the receptionist said he was in a meeting. My wife leaves a message with her to call her back. A week later of calling the dealership multiple times with the same answers every time we call, Ali is not there, he is in meeting, Ali is gone for the day. We finally got a hold of Ali and he stated will not pay to what my wife and he agreed upon and he doesn't remember the conversation that he and my wife had in his office a week earlier and hung up. Be very aware of the lack of integrity that Ali has. It may also trickle down to his employees who help run this dealership and If you are employed by this dealership. I'm sorry! Remember Enron? The executives there had no integrity at all. Look where they are now. I have bought many cars and I have never received the unprofessionalism that I got from this dealership.
