Stanton Optical Lousy Service, dirty facility Tonawanda, New York
I have been wearing glasses for over 15 years and have, up until now, puchased them from Lens Crafters.
I wanted to save a little money so went to Stanton Optical for their sales of 2 pair of no line bifocals for 179.00. I also had them give me an exam for contact lenses. The first exam when ok, but when I went to pick glasses for the sale you have a very limited wall to choose from and quite frankly I don't see anyone wanting any of the frames, and in fact the sales person agreed with me so that deal was gone. I ended up picking a pair of framless, what I wanted and was told it would take at least 3 weeks to get them done as I wanted the no glare coating put on them. That is a very long time. I have never waited more than 10 days. I went ahead with having them done but was not all that happy.
I then returned 2 weeks later for a second fitting for contacts and was given a new prescription for my right eye and the Doctor said he hoped my glasses were correct. Hmmm....ok 2 different doctors, 2 different prescriptions. Also when I went for the second fitting of contacts, the lens room was filthy. Open lens cases everywhere, sink was dirty and the paper towel roll was empty so I had to dry my hands on my pants before putting in the new contacts. My glasses finally were ready after 3 weeks and I went in to pick them up. You wait at a window and they bring them to you and tell you to put them on. No checking the fit etc. at this point. I put them on and it was blurry, I could tell that the no line bifocal was up to high on the lens. I pointed this out and they started looking at them and measuring again and basically told me no they were made right. I said well I can't see. They then scheduled me an appoint to see the doctor again to check them. Came back for the appointment and saw a 3rd doctor and he gave me another prescription. 3 doctors, 3 different prescriptions.
On top of that the machine that they put in front of your eyes to read the letters was filthy with makeup....it was gross and I can't believe he put that against my face without wiping it off first. Ok at this point I was furious and just wanted a refund. I asked for one and of course started to get the run around from the manager of the store. She offered to give a 50.00 discount but that does no good if I can't see. I continued to argue until my husband stepped in and very quietly told her that according to the policy posted I can have a refund and if she does't give me one he will call our lawyer.
Bottom line, if you want quality exam and quality glasses made right in a clean environment.......Run from the place.
