I also have fallen prey to these shysters.

They promised me a small business education along with, assisting me with web store set-up. Told me I would have one-on-one access to a mentor.

I don't even know how they got my phone number. I never went to their site.

Everything sounded good. He spoke of christianity. So, I thought everything was on the level.

I told him how I was a single mom, with Multiple Sclerosis and how I'd prefer to work at home.

That was back in March, 2007 right after the new puppy arrived and the kitchen remodeling had just begun.

I received the lap-top as promised but, I became so busy that I haven't used the course as of yet.

I sat down to the computer a couple of weeks ago and went to the startup essentials web site. I needed them to resend my access code that I misplaced.

Startupessentials.com's email does not work. I keep receiving an error page every time I try to contact them. I have tried different browsers and even different computers, no luck. Then I tried over several days, no luck.

Then after being irritated for some time, I tried to phone them. The phone is

"no longer in service"!!

If I can not reach the company or access the web site, they are breaching the so called contract. Am I correct in assuming, that because they are not adhering to their end of the bargin, the contract should be null and void?

I will be contacting the Attorney General of Pennsylvania and Texas.

Any advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to mention, I still have the lap-top in my possession and 187.00 has been taken automatically out of my checking account since March. I figure that is approximately $1500.00.
