Sunrooms Plus, Inc. is a franchise dealer for Four Seasons Sunrooms and their headquarters are located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The company is owned on paper by Larry Chavez Jr. but and operated and managed entirely by Larry Chavez Sr. (referred to henceforth as Mr. Chavez) who has such bad financial credit that he cannot legally own a company, so his son fills the gap. It was common knowledge in the office that Mr. Chavez owed a lot of money to other parties and the company was in bad financial shape trying to pay off past debts.
As a prior employee of this business I saw far too many shady business practices. For example, Mr. Chavez hired an unstable 19-year-old (who was often late to work or didn't show up at all due to hangovers) to be in charge of petty cash, deposits, and other accounting paperwork which was often incomplete, disorganized., or lost altogether. This 19-year old also would sign company checks himself, forging Mr. Chavez's signature. But this was OK with Mr. Chavez. In fact, I remember Mr. Chavez even making jokes about when he went to deposit a check he actually endorsed himself, the bank didn't recognize it because they were so accustomed to the forged signature!
Other staff members did work for clients under the table and I would often see checks made out to individuals in our office for work done, not to the company, even though this work was done on company time with company resources! I also had to field a lot of phone calls in which customers would call to complain about the work done, or not being done. In fact, my job ended up being 50% trying to calm irate customers from someone's else's constant mistakes, even the work that was being done under the table.
The Phoenix location also used to sell spas and pool tables, but those efforts failed from the lack of the most basic of business planning. They haven't even bothered to up date their webpage to reflect what they do. In fact Mr. Chavez has no business plan, or at very least, failed to communicate such goals to his employeesand tried to sell a room addition (Average cost $27,000) like it was a used car. He didn't even understand the business cycle of his own product or business.
Long story short, this company does not know how to conduct itself in an ethical manner and Mr. Chavez fails to manage his employees in ethical ways and treat his customers as the valuable resource they should be. And in my short time with this company I know Larry was being sued over at least one job and there were several other people I dealt with who complained that they were on the verge of one.
Do business with Sunrooms Plus, Inc. at your own risk. (At the rate its going, I cannot imagine it remaining in business much longer anyway.)
