Sunshine Subcription Agency - S.S.A. SSA sold fake subscriptions Coral Springs, Florida
A man came to our door talking about a contest he was in for his communications major. He was talking really fast and me and my roommate weren't sure what he was saying.
He asked to come in so that he could write on a table. He then started to talk about magazines and picking one out. He said it was 88 cents an issue but he was talking the whole time about other things like his family.
My roommate and I picked one out and then he showed us the amount. He kept talking about getting points and winning some scholarship and a trip.He said that if we paid for a subscription and donated it to charity it would help him out even more. I agreed because I didn't really want a magazine subscription so I sent it to Christiana Hospital.
He showed us the total, $42, and said that we could pay cash or check, but cash was preferred. My roommate refused to pay but I paid $22 cash and $20 check. He kept trying to get her to put the money on my check but she refused.
He left and I heard about the scam a week later.
