Banking Manager allowed Suntrust to deduct fees from two accounts that were sold as "free" checking accounts.  When the issue was brought to the attention of the banking manager she refused to reverse the fees totaling $160.  She claimed that the accounts may have been set up as free but that the bank, Suntrust, had the right to alter the fee structure on all accounts with proper advance notice.

She calimed that the bank, Suntrust, had contacted me by mail notifying me of the account change.  I never reeived notification and because the accounts we rarely used I was unaware of the charges.  The bank was unable to prove that they sent notification, however, the manager refused to refund the fees.  The managers response to my concern was to tell me "it wasn't her fault that I didn't read or receive the notice."

How did it get as high as $160? It seems as though you would have caught it after the first month when the fees were much lower. Did you read the monthly statements?

These fees went unnoticed until they hit $160??? You really need to pay attention! You do get monthly statements, right??Then you should have seen these fees months ago before they grew to $160!

No rip off here. Just stupidity and laziness. The bank puts those notices in with your monthly statement, but you would actually have to open your mail and read it. If you get E-statements, then your notices come to your email.

Either way, NO RIP OFF HERE.
