I belonged to Gold's Gym which became Impact Fitness in Irving, TX. Apparently they went out of business and sold my membership to Texas Family Fitness in Coppell, TX. I was not notified of this sale of my membership or my credit card information. When I went to the gym in November ( I had missed about 6 weeks) the door was locked and a note that I could now work out at TX Family Fitness. This gym, besides being too far from my house, I had trouble once before with their billing and was not interested in belonging to it. I immediately looked at my credit card and they charged me in October. On November 18th I went into their establishment ( as they told me I had to do) and cancelled my membership. I did pay the October fee of $21.62 that they had already charged on my credit card. I immediately cancelled my credit card so that nothing further could be charged. Now I am receiving calls and emails from them telling me I owe them more money. I owe them nothing as I never joined their gym, was not notified that my membership had been sold to them. And they could not show me any proof that I was notified of the sale of my membership.
This apparently is happening a lot with this company and there are many complaints about his establishment. I also belonged to TX Family Fitness in the Park Cities in Dallas, TX. They went out of business at that location but continued to charge my card as well.
This place is a scam and they continue to do this because they get away with it. We need a class action suit against them similiar to the one against LA Fitness so that this stops. I have complained to the BBB and the TX Attorney General's office about their practices.

I was never notifed and they had no proof I was notified of the new ownership. Wrong; you didn't notify me therefore not liable.
You are a crooked company and have done this twice to our family. You need to be sued and then it would stop . You need to be put ou of business.

You are under the impression that its your membership when its your CONTRACT!!!! It doesnt matter WHO now holds said contract YOU are STILL liable to complete the terms originally agreed to. Since YOU cancelled both the card AND the contract YOU are still on the hook for the ETF.
