Received a notice of an award claim, with a check for $5,236. Check looks amazingly real. You are told to call to activate the check and then when you call you are told you actually have won $1.0 million . When I was skeptical and questioned if it would be okay to verify this check with my local Police Dept. they said I should not be concerned but to verify it with an attorney if I liked. When I contacted the local Police Dept. they said they knew about the scam and to destroy the check.
