I went in for a simple oil change and left buying an 80.00$ valve stem sensor for my Mazda 5 van and wondering if the oil filter was even changed. After filling the other 3 tires he was at my drivers side front tire for about 5 minutes then asked me if I had a spare tire. He informed me that water must have gotten under stem cap and eroded the "aluminium" threaded part that's why it snapped off. "It happens all the time and you can get the part at any tire store." He said. Nope, you sure can't and it was fun trying to find a dealor open at 3 pm on a saturday! I began to think why I also didn't feel or hear anyone under my van wrenching off a filter housing...so...I looked underneath and noticed no tool marks or any hope of anybody wiping clean the housing. Just a dirty filter cover, that's all. The dip stick he showed me was black and I've changed enough oil to know that 5 qts of fresh oil will at least look somewhat opaque!
