Tiki Shack Importer, Sunset Bamboo, Resort Backyards CONSUMER FRAUD AND UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES San Bernardino California
I was looking to purchase Thatch Products for my home renovation project and found a company called Tiki Shack Importer advertised on Google (http://www.tikishackimporter.com). The company advertised that it was A+ accredited through the Better Business Bureau, which gave me the confidence to purchase from Tiki Shack Importer. I later discovered that the company is NOT ACCREDITED. I immediately called the company and spoke with the owner Ted to demand a refund. I told him that he is committing fraud and false advertising by claiming that he was A+ rated and BBB Accredited.
After looking online for other reviews about the company, I found out that he had so many complaints against him they ended up running a story on the local San Diego News 10 channel about his deceptive business practices. BUYERS BEWARE!!! Ted at the Tiki Shack Importer is a con artist. He will deceive you with his unethical business practices and lies. He also owns sunsetbamboo.com and resortbackyards.com, more fraudulent website that continue to rip people off. Ted Dougty is a greedy businessman that will do anything to earn a buck which includes stealing and lying to customers.

Jennifer from Orlando Florida. After reading your complaint you wrote. I noticed that something wasn’t right about this. I did not remember any Jennifer from Orlando Florida that called and requested a refund or talked about BBB ratings and did not show anything on our daily log for a refund for you, I also went back 3 years in our data base to see if we have sold to a Jennifer in Orlando Florida no record. So either you used a different name when you purchased or Jennifer is not your real name? The other concern is that your complaint was vague and did not go into detail about what your actual complaint was, it was more on bashing my company than talking about your issue. We don’t have any issues with refunds because some of our customers order the wrong size, the project get delayed or cancelled. This leads me to believe after doing my research that you are either a competitor or somehow affiliated with one of our competitors, doesn’t make any since. I do have a competitor in Orlando Florida which is where you say your from and also one in San Diego which is where the article that you link to on your complaint. . It is also interesting that you posted this in February, which is the beginning of our busy season, which also confirms that you might be a competitor or somehow affiliated with one of our competitors, one in Orlando and one in San Diego, HMM?
It seems like you went out of your way to mention all of our website and try to discredit all of them. You put up a link to a article in San Diego about Sunset Bamboo that was written on May 11 2015 about some customers that received bad product from Sunset Bamboo. This was written 9 months before we purchased Sunset Bamboo From Tony Nicholas not Tommy Nicholas which was the owner at that time, I did not own the business at that time. And if you look at the report that was written from Island Thatch DBA Sunset Bamboo against Tiki Shack Importer this was written at a desperate time for Island Thatch, which was having financial problems at that time and was desperate to save his business, Tony has apologized for this unfortunately once it posted on the internet it is here to stay. But the positive side is that he choose me to purchase his websites, Sunset Bamboo and Resort Backyards last year.
As for the BBB rating if you check with them we are not a accredited member and have never advertised to be a accredited A+, you won’t see this anywhere on our website, but we do have a A+ rating just never paid to be a member, see link bbb.org/central-california-inland-empire/business-reviews/furniture-outdoor/tiki-shack-importers-in-colton-ca-100115621
We ship out over 200-500 packages a day depending on the season and one thing I have noticed is that mainly only bad reviews are written online and very little good reviews. You would think that all of the orders going out on a daily bases we would have a lot more good reviews but unfortunately it’s sad that doesn’t happen in this world.
As for the con artist and greedy comment this is not who we are we take a lot of pride in what we do to make sure our customer service and our number one priority as stated on our website reviews. Every year our business progresses and that’s from great product and great customer service. There are plenty of customers out there for everyone no need to be greedy or lie.
