I found what seemed to be a good career opportunity on a common website called careerbuilder.com. The company was called Twin City Events, Inc (and I learned after my interview that it's also called North Star Events, Inc.). The fact that the company goes by two different names screams "Run!!!" Anyhow my interview was scheduled at 3:30pm and like a good career seeker I arrived about 10 minutes early. I walked in and was immediately shocked at the site of the office (if you want to call it an office). There were ugly poinsettias' (Christmas flowers in May???) lined up on the floor in the foyer which was not professional and then the lady behind the 100 year old beat up desk handed me the shortest "resume" I've ever seen. It asked for basic information and only one employer. Then the Executive Director named Brian McCaffrey called me into his non-executive looking office about 50 minutes after my interview was supposed to start and asked me basic questions like "Tell me about yourself" and "Where do you see yourself in 5 years'. He then told me that he liked my style and personality so much that hed like to have me come back the following morning at 9:30am to "job-shadow" and told me to dress professional but wear comfortable clothing. He also told me that if I was given the job that I would eventually be working on events for the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins. I was very excited because this is the kind of job that I could really excel at. I got in my car and drove away. I called my friend and told her that it seemed too good to be true but I would give it a chance so I stopped at Southdale Mall to pick up some nice professional slacks to wear to the office the next day. When I got home I googled the company and found reports from people just like me who fell for this scam. I feel so mad and betrayed. How dare people offer those of us who want honest work, false hope for our futures!!!!!!!!! Don't back down if this same thing happened to you, lets give these people what they deserve, the loss of their company!
