Twin Van Lines-Capital Heights MD Twins Moving and Storage Paid Double My Quote Capital Heights , Maryland
I went on a website (123movers.com) to recieve quotes for moving a 2 bedroom apartment. Twins moving and storage was one of the first moving companies to call me. I spoke with a representative at the company and she quoted me $375 and informed me that fragile items were an additional charge (never informed of the pricing). I gave her my $75 deposit and scheduled my move.
The day before my scheduled move the company called to confirm. On the day of the move the movers were expected between 8-9am. At 9:30 no one had showed up so I called the company. A man informed me that one of his drivers had called out sick and that they were attempting to find another driver, if finding another driver did not work they would send the morning crew over after they had finished their move for the morning. Around 3:30pm I called the company again, since no one had showed up, to find out the status. I was informed that a crew was not available and if I moved in the evening there would be an additional charge even though the driver calling out sick was not my fault.
My move was rescheduled for the following morning. The movers came on time as scheduled. After showing the movers what needed to be moved, the foreman (or whatever you call the person that deals with the customer) pulls out this paperwork (acontract). Informs me of the pricing for moving fragile items. $5 per roll of tape, $35 per box, $25 to strink wrap and item, etc. I went over the two items that I wanted him to Protect with the boxes and tape. After that information was discussed he informed me that he would need to be paid prior to unloading the truck at the new address.
When we arrived at the new address, he totaled up my bill and it came to $791. I felt like I had just been scammed but what could I do, I had to retrieve my items off of the truck. I paid the outrageous tab and they unloaded the truck. Once finished, the foreman asked if I wanted to give them a TIP!!!
