United Card Services ripoff Buffalo New York
I spoke with United Card Services on 3/7/03 and was given the same pitch the others have reported; $2500 limit, 0%APR, no fees.
They debited my bank account $249.00 on 3/11/03. I've been watching the mail closely because I also got ripped off by Lenox Capital (AKA Freedom Resources) back in December 2002.
I've talked to two different men at United Card about my package (First time I called and got to talk with a man I believe said his name was Steve and he told me they were behind but would not say why) he told me that I'd have my card withen 25 days of the original debit.
On 4/15 I called and left a message on the voice mail for them to call me about my card. The next morning I found this site and started writing down information in hopes I can get my money back from Lenox and to see what I can do about United Card if the bank doesn't help.
Ironically a man named Jim (or James) called me back about an hour later. I asked to speak to his manager and he asked "Why?", I told him that I was on the internet and found numerous reports of people this company scammed but did not tell him where I got the info (yet). He got all worried and said that they were behind and that I would get my card within 2 weeks. He then proceeded to hurry the call and try to change the subject of speaking to a manager.
On 4/17 I went to the bank and requested an ACH return on my $249 they took from me and explained what happened.
On 4/19 I recieved the "benefits" package about the trip and discount "stuff" that was dated March 12, 2003. The letter also stated that my card was "ordered" and I would recieve it in 25 days.
First of all I was never told that they were taking my money to "order" me a credit card, they told me that they themselves were issueing me a card. From my two phone calls to the company they have twisted almost everything that was told to me.
I have yet to recieve my reversal on the ACH but I know it takes a few days and I'll hopefully get it back Monday morning.
