I work for the government and chose United Concordia as my dental supplemental insurance.
I had to have peridontal work performed on my gums. My dental office required me to pay upfront for this in-office surgery. They did fill out the insurance papers and send to United Concordia for me.
After a couple of months, I called United Concordia to check on the status of my claim. They said that my dental office had not sent in all of the required information. I called my dental office to inform them of what United Concordia had told me. They said thay had sent the information but would resend it.
After another month, I called United Concordia again. I was again told they had not recieved enough information. I again called my dental office, they reassured me that they had sent the requested information but would call United Concordia to see what exactly it was they required.
After another month, I heard the same stall technique from United Concordia. I called my dental office and was told that the doctor had tried to talk to them but United Concordia would not speak to him.
I filed a complaint against United Concordia with the Texas Dept. of Insurance and Fedvip to seek help in getting them to pay for the covered services I had recieved.
United Concordia stalled for seven (7) months until they finally paid a small portion of the bill. Now they have started rejecting payment on my regular dentist bills (which they used to pay) saying he is not in their network. I call this plain and simple R-E-T-R-I-B-U-T-I-O-N.
I highly do not recommend United Concordia Insurance and I hope this will save someone else from monetary loss and the aggravation of dealing with United Concordia Insurance.
