I have been a mileage customer with United Mileage plus for quite some time, actually began with Continental.  This is a total scam !   They consistantly send you promotional emails, about using thier merchants for not only mileage, but bonus mileage, but do not honor them at all.

I have made it a point to use the mileage plus shopping site to make all of my online purchases for the sole purpose of getting my miles.  I have almost 30,000 miles missing that never posted.  I contacted them, sent them reciepts with order numbers and all I get are automated answers to my emails.  When I finally get answered I was told it was too late to investigate my purchases.  They tell you it can take up to 2 months for your miles to post, but don't tell you there is a deadline.  I have written over 30 emails, about making huge purchases, such as furniture, smartphones, large screen TVs, etc. and I got absolutely nowhere.  The worst part about it is that in reading about the merchants and mileage plus program is that they are getting paid to promote these merchants, yet don't deliver to the costumers !! 

It is almost impossible to contact them, you call one number and they ask you to write them, when you do you get those horrible automated responses and feel like you are communicating with a Robot.

I finally filed a complaint with the BBB and the United Customer Care representative  who contacted me from an unknown number and left me messages about the BBB complaint.  She left no phone number or way to contact her.  Finally she called me from a toll free number, asked me to send her all my proof, which I did, and rather than investigating the issue she responds to the online complaint as if the issue was resolved.  Without even looking at least one of the over 20 emails I sent her, she was more concerned about what my complaint looked like on line.  I absolutly did not accept the proposed resolution, How could I she didn't even look at my issue speaks to, and a couple of hours later is responding on the BBB complaint !

I can't believe the nerve making money off of consumers by pawning them of to merchants who pay them for promoting them, then not only don't follow through on giving you what they advertised which are miles or bonus miles, but when it's brough to thier attention, refuse to do so.  How such a major airline could use this kind of business practice is beyond me !!
