Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
In June of 2004 I decided to go for my MBA on line by enrolling in the top on-line listed university; University of Phoenix. I completed all requirements and transferred my diplomas, grades, financial aid packets approved and started classes in the field of On-line Business that fall.

Course One, I could have taught with no experience. I received a B++ with out much effort. I learned nothing from the course. Most was graded upon statements/participation made in strings left in an online student message room. Assignments were elementary and submitted via email. No testing of any type was ever preformed.

Course Two, Was even easier and was of no use. Without trying I received an A. The instructor seemed nice, but again I learned absolutely nothing. No testing of any type was ever preformed.

Course Three, I was present for the first couple of classes and saw the same pattern present. No learning, a lot of money being spent through my financial aid qualification that would end with a papermill diploma. I informed the instructor and students that this was a rip off and I would not continue. I also informed that administration of the same.

For 2 Classes completed and one dropped within the first week, they charged me $9,529.81 not counting $110.00 registration fee and other assorted fees PLUS interest. Some of the money was advanced in the loan to pay back or use. I chose to use it at the time to purchase a lap top on which to work on this degree. That portion of the advance I do not dispute.

They justified the high charges by saying that I will be charged for the full term of classes remaining, even though I did not take part. They also charge and large amount over on-campus classes even though their expenses, ie; use of facilities, utilities, equipment was far less being on-line and using my own home.

My loan was immediately sold to SallieMae when they found out I did not want to repay the entire loan and resigned from the program.

My warning to everyone considering an online degree: When financial aid is the major part they are concerned with, and hand holding you through the process until you are approved and started in your first class - Think: Gee, maybe they are not concerned with my education. I wish I had investigated them further before starting. I figured a class or two and drop if it is bogus. For two substandard classes costing thousands was not worth it. Anyone interested in a class action suit please contact me. Thank you.

Hi Chris, I just recently dropped this school with major problems. I am trying to get in touch with people who really want to do something about this school. But you can leave personal information on this web site. How can people get in touch.

My situation is similar to yours, Chris. I too took two classes and dropped the third in the first week, mainly because my CPU got fried. I am so glad I did drop it, though, because every class was a joke. I was charged thousands of dollars for nothing (a few credits that can't even be transferred). Anyway, if you'd like, I'd be interested in a Class Action as well.

'Silly,' how some people assume you do not want to learn if you fail to do so. I, as a teacher did want to increase my knowledge of web based business since this was not covered in my undergrad degrees. 'Silly,' how some people assume that teachers are only in it for a pay check. Most are way underpaid, and if asked why they do it--For the love of knowledge! This should be no different at University of Phoenix on-line. Unfortunately this is not the case as the staff are selected to follow the criteria set forth by the so-called University to streamline the effort and maximize their profit. Please refer to these links: http://www.ripoffreport.com/Colleges-and-Universities/University-Of-Phoeni/university-of-phoenix-online-o-78A88.htm 'Silly' how some people with no information can make an assumption instead of finding out the facts before the speak. I would sincerely hope more will check this out and help put a stop to this type of non-sense education. My prior universities would never have taught in this manner. Since I had experience, I know the difference. Since I was involved with University of Phoenix On-line rip off, I know the facts. Thank you. Chase the Carrot ..Colleges are a business; they are in it for the profit, nothing more, nothing less. Teachers are in it for the paycheck.

Student experience with the educational system deals strictly with economics. Students go to college to get a degree so they can chase the carrot, claiming a degree will create a higher salary opportunity. Colleges holding the carrot lure students supporting the same claim. It is all about the money. The only person really interested in your education is you. If a student goes to college and does not learn anything that might mean that they already know it all. If that is true, then why go to college? Somewhat ridiculous to spend time and money on nothing! Colleges are a business; they are in it for the profit, nothing more, nothing less. Teachers are in it for the paycheck. Maybe there are a handful of teachers that actually enjoy teaching; I am not one of them. Students are there for the carrot. Students at least must read the book; they can play, socialize, sing and dance, but the book must be read. However, there are many students that actually want to learn. College is not to teach students anything, but maybe the value of the carrot. College directs students to the information; just like taking a horse to a pool of water. If students want to learn about the profession they are seeking then they need to absorb the information. No one can make students absorb; that is a process they must want to do. Silly, silly you for not applying the effort to absorb! Quitting is not an option
