This class, Creating Short Fiction, is ineffective and doesn't deliver what it promised. At first, the instructor was available to answer a simple question, but 5 weeks into the lessons, he no longer answered. The reading assignments were relevant, but the tests were too simplistic and too short.

The one thing that I wanted from the class, I never recieved: valid feedback and good classroom feedback in the "discussion" area. There were no students to discuss with. It felt like I was the only student in the class.

I paid good money for the course and felt as though it was just a big rip off. I posted a short question about point of view and reposted it two weeks later, to no avail. I never did get an answer from the instructor.

UVM Continuing Education is not Ed2Go

I just wanted to clarify that UVM Continuing Education courses and Ed2Go courses are not the same thing.

Ed2Go is a company that offers very low cost (usually around $50-70), noncredit courses that are not taught by UVM professors. Many are self-paced, asynchronous prewritten classes with an instructor available only to answer occasional questions. www.ed2go.com

UVM Continuing Education offers courses for both credit and noncredit at regular in and out of state tuition (thousands of dollars), taught by approved UVM professors and adjuncts. These professors provide high quality lessons, interaction, and feedback, both in and out of class. www.learn.uvm.edu
