Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Sadly, my hand has been forced to write this and tell my story, My girlfriend and I had been regular customers at this place. On a Sunday her and I went in and I bought her a spring dress that she had her eye on, later that day I received the unfortunate news that my grandfather passed away unexpectedly. My grandparents were my best friends, they raised me, and after my grandma had passed 5 yrs ago my grandfather was the sole rock of the family. That week was crazy....between funeral arrangements, family staying at my place, and trying to deal with the loss we had forgotten about the dress. After all was said and done, the weekend came and she tried it on that Sunday, one week from when it was purchased and it turned out to be too big. It was the smallest size available and the last of their stock on this item so an exchange was not possible. Their return policy is 7 days but seeing that it's a small business that we regularly supported I didn't think it would be a big deal.

I went in the following day, 8 days from the date of purchase and was told that they would not return the dress, even though I had explained the circumstances. This rubbed me the wrong way. I was provided with a gift card instead. The next weekend I went back in to see if a manager was available and we were met by one of the staff that had assisted us on numerous occasions in the past. She was very understanding but said she needed approval from her manager Rachel. She tried to reach her by phone but could not, and then said that she would make an exception and refund my money. While she was processing this the manager Rachel called and instructed her not to process the return. This not only rubbed me the wrong way but it was offensive. Rachel would not speak to me on the phone and I was told that I would have to email her. Before I walked out the door the staff told me that the card I was provided with on my first visit had a zero balance and they provided me with a gift certificated for the amount of my purchase. Three days later I walked in to see if Rachel was there and she was.

Rachel was beyond rude and unprofessional. Never once did she express condolences, apologize for not being able to accommodate my request, or anything of the sort. It was almost as if she had some kind of adversarial view of me or she was trying to impose her power as the manager. She reluctantly provided the contact info for her boss Brian Smith, although she firmly pointed out that I would be wasting my time because he would respect her decision. I can't recall a time that I have ever been treated so poorly by an employee of any place of business. Rachel takes the cake for rudeness. I honestly cannot believe the way I have been treated by this place. Now I'm being forced to do business with a store that I never want to step foot in again. I'm a neighborhood native and I passionately support our small businesses but this behavior is not what we expect from small businesses. Give your business to another store on Southport.
