U.S. Bank Deposited 1472.00 then recieved 3 $32.00 Overdraft Charges Next Day consumer fraud ripoff slow prossessing Salem Oregon
I recently became aware of U.S. banks "New Policy" Regarding deposits. Instead of holding the deposit and anything that comes in after it...They now just start the overdraft bonanza until the deposited check clears, which they say takes up to "3 Days". To make it simple...I deposited a $1472.00 check on a Wed. The next day 3 checks came in at a total of about $25.00. They charged me $96.00 in overdraft charges because the $1472.00 check had not cleared. The deposited check was from the State of Oregon (Who I work for).
They did this the week earlier when we deposited a $400.00 check and the next day there were 4 $32.00 charges for a total of $128.00. The checks and Purchases with the card were less than 40.00 total. Because of the first charges (Which I was completely unaware of since I had just deposited a $400.00 check) the charges for the second incedent happened. When I spoke with them on the phone they told me they sent a note in my November statement warning of these changes.
My reply: "I just talked to your teller yesterday when i made the $1400.00 deposit...Why couldn't she have told me that the funds wouldn't be available for 4 days?" His reply: "We had to do this because of the events on September 11th 2001". You have got to be kidding me...You are using the terrorists as your excuse for Stealing my money?
I am so sick of being screwed to the point I can't recover. In a nut shell...I have deposited over $3000.00 into my account this month and have spent only $2200.00 of it. $500.00 has gone to "Overdraft charges" that were applied after deposits were made. So I now will get to spend a whopping $2500.00 of my $3000.00 because of the "New Policy" that I was supposedly informed of last November.
