In an attempt to purchase an anniversary gift for my husband I worked with a local company (Waters edge pools) to purchase one of their Halloween props.  The Dr. Pheal Phine dentist prop I was what I wanted to get and I asked Waters edge pools if they would be interested in selling the Dr. Pheal Phine prop today for 15% off the asking price of $458.  The man there said he would have to check with his wife (the owner of the store) and he would call me back.  I received a message at 12:26 that they had some information for me and I could call them for more information.  When I called them back I was told by the owner that I could have the dentist prop for $400 even if I came in with cash, I said that the $400 needs to include the tax as well because $400 was my budget.  She said that because I was paying with cash there was no tax so $400 cash was all I needed.

With that said, I showed up at the Waters edge Pools store to pick up my prop.  My 2 1/2 year old was frightened and wanted no parts of being in the store or near the dentist.  The owner loaded the prop on a hand truck and wheeled him out to my car which was right in front of their door.  On several occasions while she was bringing it out the leg fell off and it proved to be a challenging move. Finally getting it to my car I lifted the prop up and rested it in my trunk, I went into the back seat of the car to help guide the head and shoulders through the pass through from my trunk while she loaded it into the trunk.  While she was pushing I told her to stop while I positioned the head of the prop however she continued pushing.  The head pushed up against the floor (since the head is on a spring and it got caught with out me guiding it as I had intended before she pushed) that caused the arm of the prop to scrape on the metal ledge on the under side of the "pass through" between the trunk and back seat of the car.

I yelled for her to stop right away and she came to see the damage, her response was "crap, well you could use some paint on that Her and I looked at the damage and she asked me what I would like to do.  She said she really didn't want to take it back into the store because it was hard to move, I said I don't want something damaged but I had no choice because today is the day I need the gift for and I needed and planned on having this gift to give today.  Because of the situation I decided to take the prop, and the owner gave me $20 back making the total purchase $380.  There was no receipt given for the sale.

What makes this unacceptable is that the owner was the one who did the damage to the prop, at the time she was willing to not go through with the sale but 3 hours later she would not talk to us about the situation and about trying to return this prop.
