Everything about this company is shady.  Working for these guys was probably the lowest point in my life.  There are so many things wrong with WDM Group is almost laughable.  The company philosophy and procedures are out dated and irrelevant but they press on as it has worked for them for 4 years.

The Magazines - Too crowded, too busy, horribly designed.  Who has time to read a 500 page magazine anyway.  The individual brochures look like they were whipped together in minutes.  

The Websites - Same as above, so crowded with useless information that its tough to navigate through the countless dribble thats on there.  WDM Group hires people to create profiles and leave comments on the posts but noone is reading it, all to make it look like they have an audience.

The Name - Once known as White Digital Media, now know as WDM Group, had to change it because of so many complaints from advertisers who complained about them.  Ex Employees as well.  I remember reading a rebuttal from someone in Communications from WDM where he said it was a "competing company" spreading these lies and complaints.  Its not competing companies, its WDM's former staff who are writing these.  

The Culture - Awful.  Horrible environment. Unrealistic targets to hit,Horrible overall Morale. Noone know wants to be there working for them, its just a gig to get paid.  Micro Managed from Managers and Directors.  Everyone who works for this company knows its crap.

The Training - 3 days of training and right away on the phones calling the same old companies they have been calling for years, no new approaches, just recycled leads.  Lame rebuttals from Managers that don't hold any weight in todays business.  I noticed the Managers were all 24-27 years old, It felt like they just stuck someone there because they were employed there the longest.

The Circulation - They collect emails, thats it, add them to a database, and I guess email out each crappy magazine, more like spamming than anything else...noone reads it though, I've seen the numbers, low click rates and low time online.

The Managers - Making a living off the hard work of list generators.  The Senior team consists of "yes men" who surround Glen White, all the while knowing the product is crap.  For a company that said they provided an engaging product the Managers were old and really unconfortable looking. 

The Turnover - I didnt even get to know the new employees names because I knew they wouldnt be there long.  They would either quit or get let go. I would say in the time I was there I saw probaly 20 bodies in and out of that office.

The Office - A bunch of desks packed together to form pods, Managers yelling out if it was quite for any more than a minute, yelling to get on the phones.  Again not understanding that it takes some time to read up on a company before you call.  Thats why everyone fakes calls stats, hell, I was calling fax numbers over and over again to pad them, everyone did, and everyone will continue to do this as the expectations are so stupid they have to.

The Pay - Awful.  $32,000 - $35,000 base with bonus.  But Bonues only after you hit 16,000 in sales...then you got a cheque for 800.....wow..where do I sit down?.....thats awful.  Cheques were late getting to the office because the didnt have enough money to cover everyone.  Bonuses had to wait 3 months before you got them.  

The Sales Tactics - Overly aggresive, almost badgering suppliers to but ads.  Overpriced ads.  This is where they use shady tactics and leverage to get them to buy....they have their "tricks" they use, like saying they are going to show the client some design aspects and they need a decision....so many little tactis they use to close a deal.  And they have to because everyday the sales team has to send a report in letting Glen and his team want they did that day and whats upcoming, so even though its wrong, the sales team are pressured from Management to get sales, so they have to pressure the trades to buy...just a foolish way to run a business.  

The Reward - When we hit a monthly goal WDM takes the team out for drinks, which consists of 2 drinks and some apps....wow.....thats awesome.....I just geberated 50k for the company and I get 2 pints of beer and a few chicken wings...atta boy Glen, way to motivate the team.

The Future - Saw BusinessFriend, my verdict....s**t.....enough said.  I rememebr sitting through a boring conference call where we had to listen to the developer talk about how it was going to be the next big thing.  I felt so bad for this naive and confused man, they spent over 200k on BusinessFreind and it will never take off.  Its been done  by 2 companies that call themselves LinkedIn and Facebook.  Maybe you heard of them.  Way to be a innovator over there Glen, thats a great idea if you came up with it 10 years ago.  But that just proves my point, an old man, out of touch, confused who thinks he can just throw some money at a project and it will work.  

 

Anyway, there's so much more but I dont enough time to type it all in.....what does that say about Wdm Group.
