My first trainer at Wener was OTR usually picking up Amish made cabinets in Indiana or Illinois and driving to California dropping stuff off at various warehouses and job sites on the way. Here is a little secret (Amish people really dont make these cabinets) Akward and heavy would best describe the type of cargo we picked up. When I went to the Ohio Terminal for orientation and physical I let the doctor know that I had a rotator cuff operation and couldnt do any lifting over 10 pounds, especially overhead lifting. I was assured that considerations would be made and that all of the training would be drop and hook. At the first stop my trainer said we needed to bring down the cabinets and push them to the back of the truck. Guess what? Overhead lifting and nothing under 10 pounds. First off the trainee doesnt get paid anything for this sorta of labor second I was not about to reinjure my shoulder and go throught another year of pain and rehab. So I refused to do it and let say my relationship with the trainer deteriorated from there. Werner just lies about everything, the recruiters and SDM's must go through some sort of unsensitivty training, they are numb to any problems you may have on the road. Any green recruits that are looking for a company to work for this isnt the one. Dont buy the slick brochures and smooth talking recruiters that blow smoke up your keester. They say you really get to see the country and its an adventure. All you see are highways, rest stops, truckstops, industrial complexes and the inside of a sleeper. Not to mention hookers, hustlers, and fat old broken down people who have been tied down and beaten by life. Look for another profession, truckdriving is a fools paradise.

Wxx is like many OTC truck companies that attempt to maximize the effort of their drivers. The advertisements they make sound like the job is full of adventure and low risk, but the reality is that trucking is one of the hardest ways there is to make a living and is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world (tenth place in the top ten). The $$ store runs also include some neighborhoods where bullets fly during daylight hours. You won't miss anything while your back in sales.

Swift, Werner, CR England, Covenant, CRST, and many more are all the same. All training companies will work you hard for next to nothing. Welcome to the world of trucking where you are just a warm body behind the wheel. As all of them say "Stay safe--but keep those wheels moving". They do not care about you. It's all about the money. That's all trucking is---the money for THEM and NOT you.
