I saw an advertisement on CNN for whoknewbooks.com to order two books for $10 plus shipping and handling. The books were suppose to be Who Knew? 10,001 Easy Solutions to everyday problems and was to include as a bonus a book called extreme coupons. The total of $17.95 they showed included the $10 plus shipping and handling. Good deal huh?

So I entered all my information including credit card info and it took me to another screen where they tried to sell me another book with free shipping. I said NO. It then took me to yet another screen to order an additional book and I said NO. The next screen wanted me to upgrade to hard cover books and I said NO. after 3-4 more screens of trying to sell me additional stuff I didn't want it got to a screen to confirm my order.

In the background I could see the total of the order and it showed 28 dollars and some odd cents. I finally had it with the order process and just wanted to cancel and get out before clicking confirm.

It just sounded like they wanted to charge me for something I didn't want and after all the BS of ordering extra stuff screens I ended up not wanting anything at all. I clicked the cancel button to cancel the order (before I even ordered it) and the screen said thanks for your order. I'm pissed. What a ripoff.

I know the trouble I'll have if I try to get my money back or cancel the order by phone. (they have a (855) area code number and it's probably setup to charge more money for just calling them).

I guess I'm just going to eat the money. I hope that the books are worth the $28 I was charged, but somehow I doubt it. I'm sure I'm going to see other charges show up on my card as well.  Please be warned. Clicking Cancel will just complete the order. I'm glad that I said NO to everything else.

Reading the other ripoff report (which I should have before I ordered) tells more info on how they operate. It appears that the extra $10 that they charged shows as a "continental US shipping charge". What a joke.
